One day, and one day soon I will be commissioning a full harness. I still don't know what period, but oh, it'll be a harness worth wearing. Beautiful article, thank you.

Effingham- that sucks. I don't know why it's doing that. Pops up fine for me.

Craig- Those would be the shovel greaves! Took me a few minutes of looking at it to remember exactly what they were.

I gave up smoking my pipe because of my children.

I'm posting so that this stays in my list of threads. Very very interested, by the way. Abandoning my previous Roman (SCA) persona due to the collapse of a warband, going with my Magyar roots, methinks.

Re: Sale: Deepeeka Roman Gladius & Celtic Sword

That may answer the question for someone more knowledgeable, but I'm not that person.

If I hit something with it, would it break like a rat-tail tang, or would it stand up? I'm not planning on doing something like that, but purely ornamental blades are not my thing.

http://www.plasticlamellar.com/ is where one of my bandmates picked up his lamellar. It wasn't cheap, but he's also 6'3". Easy as heck to lace, just be sure to burn the ends into 'needles' and it'll go fast. A pair of pliers to tighten them down and you're good to go!

The problem with the easiest thing is that it's the hardest thing- we're trying to equip up to 10 people in as good a suit of roman armour as possible, on as little money as possible. It's going to be tough, but we'll make it work as best we can. Buying helmets is not an option- Unless someone wants...
