Re: Issues with Anshelm order

If you don't want to wait, don't order something from a craftsman who creates art. There are places where you can order manufactured goods with assured delivery, and places where you can buy "retail" off-the-shelf armor (paying "convenience"-type markups). I have used both, enjoy both, and believe ...

Re: You might remember me from "Full Metal Jousting".

If you didn't want people giving honest opinions on your harness, then why post it up for public discussion? It's the archive for chrissake. If I managed to sneak a suit out of the Cloisters, and pose in it, and post pictures, half a dozen people would tell me what's "clearly wrong" with the armour...

Re: Uses for sole bend leather?

I've considered using them as soling material, though I'd need some kind of synthetic traction or they will smooth out into ice skates on the field, as I've noticed from other flat treadded shoes. I guess I just don't know what to think use-wise when it's considered 'armor quality' leather, and I d...

Re: X post- Where are all the armourers on the west coast?!

If you make your living doing it, you are one, simple as that.

It gets fuzzy when terms like "master" get applied. But if making armor puts the food on your table, you are an armorer.

Yes, even the guy churning out fantasy suits in kydex. Perhaps not a historically accurate one, but still.

Re: Pictures from Museum of London

Much as I like seeing pics from MoL, they had a no-photos policy, because so many were ending up online, and we begged and promised we wouldn't publicly post ours. Are these all on the up and up? In a lot of cases, those policies are only for certain exhibits. the ROM, for example, you can photogra...

Let's see, does anyone disagree that Jeff is in the top of the pile as far as commercial, CORRECT, joust ready armor and supplies are concerned, in the US? No offense to anyone, but turning out a Mac, Ugo, Anshelm, etc, type deal is quite a bit different from a spun top with a football grill on it.....

Picasa. Photobucket. Deviantart. Flickr. Those are all free for limited amounts of data per month. Lucas, I would suggest going a less expensive route. You should use tent canvas, cheaper than leather and and it comes in large enough roles to cover your fat arse!!! HAHAHAHAHA :) Miss you man! I couldn't resist. If I find anyone who does them here in Drachenwald, I will send you the contact info....

Basically, you work up through grits at steps just small enough to remove the hills left by previous grits. I go up to 3500 just on wood, then use tripoli, or cut and polish, or auto compound to gloss the finish.
