If anyone has a (GDFB) Get dressed for battle gambason? They are nice for period materials, and look. But the sleeves were too small for my arms. I also had to have the arms shortened, the sleeve taken off the body, grommeted, and the stuffing taken out of the elbows. I had mine tailored at, Hummel'...

I've used it many time, for damascus guards, pommels, jewelry.

I think its less than 1018, not to great for edge holding. It's springy in a long piece, but bend it at 90 degrees for a piece shorter than 3 inches and you'll see what I mean.

Mild? 18 ga? Best to just use that in a LH impression. Live steel fighting, I never go in with less than a 12 Ga. helm, and that with people who really know what they are doing.

Next time get you some 16 Ga. spring sheet, and heat treat it to industry specs'

Thanks guys. I appreciate that data. Is that from one of the Valsgarde dig's? I suppose I could rework the maille, I might end up needing a lot more fabric to get it to "splay" correctly. Thanks again.

Well. I'd cut the sleeves off my ol' aluminum Gaulic shirt, soaked 'em in drain'O, for three hours to get the real-real shineyness out of them, and thought they looked grey enough like steel to go with it. I guess you'd need to see just how aweful they looked before the acid treatment to appreciate ...

Wuffingas Steel fighters don't "follow through" with the blow as in waister and rattan. It's full bore without the "oomph". Only the best and wisest of your fighters ought to be allowed to do more than spar if they lack experience. Our 12 Ga. helms have 16 Ga. mesh over eyes, nose and teeth. We have...

My Valsgarde 6.

My take on Erik's kit. I acid blued the stainless to produce a weathered /damascened look. Left the ridge flat, so I can add a mokome gane Sutton Hoo style ridge "beast" next. Raw wool lining. Aluminum maille drape. For Wuffingas purposes it will have mesh over the eyes, Lord willing by spring. And ...

the deer carcas is a real eye opener, but how much difference would the hide& hair make? In 1994, I cut a 198 pound white tail deer, hair, spine, ribs, "innerds" all in tact. One swipe (base ball style swing) with a sharp flamberge great sword, and "Swoosh", it barley even halted the swing. The ine...
