Re: Historical Basis of The 3/4 Circle Cloak
Wider looms were certainly known in ancient times, as most Roman clothing was woven to width with little to no joining of pieces together. Roman cloaks were commonly woven in half circle shapes.

Re: Leather for straps
Do you want historically accurate or modern for function? Vegetable tanned, bark tanned and even oil tanned are all three period correct solutions. Period oil tanned leather will resemble heavy suede as the dermis is commonly removed during tanned process. This type of leather has been used for cent...

Boys want maile shirts and I'm reluctant to order from Indian dealers on eBay due to recently being disappointed in two dishonest Indian ebayers.
Any suggestions for small maile shirts, prefer aluminum

When I have made linen items in the past that will have a large hem, particularly the bottom of a tunic/shirt or legs of braies, I try to use the selvedge edge. Not only does it not require hemming, it does make hemming easier if you decide to hem it.

Re: "Buff" coats made of wool felt?
Buff coats weren't armour. The breastplate over the top was the armour. Buff coats were introduced as a replacement for their linen arming coats because leather isn't susceptible to powder burns.
