Re: Etymology of english word "Pants"

Seeing that this topic is in the "Historical Research" subforum and not in "Off Topic Posts" the only thing I will say about this is that "it wouldn't be very likely."
Edit: It seems I'm not quite awake. I read the question as "is there any relation between Panzer and pants"...

I plan to make a liner for a sallet from several layers of cotton terrycloth sewn together, put in pockets made from linen. Basically because I have it lying around. Anyone any thoughts on that?

Re: Double Bell Wedge tent

I made a wedge tent using a normal sewing machine. . All in all it wasn't that difficult. The most difficult part was figuring out in which sequence to sew it together so that the rolled-up fabric would still fit under the arm. I assume a double bell would not be that difficult. As soon as I have mo...

Antoine de la Roche, Grand Bastard of Burgundy The arrow appears in other portraits as well. The meaning of is unclear but it might be the symbol of the king of archery (the winner of a yearly archery contest). Antoine became the king of a guild in Ghent in 1463. http://imgc.allpostersimages.com/ima...

I don't think those spots are hobnails. Similar spots are all over the painting, for instance in the green piece of cloth hanging from the helmet. Donal: indeed: not wearing spurs and not wearing sabatons either.

I can recommend The Crossbow (Mediaeval and Modern Military and Sporting) by Sir Ralph Payne Gallwey. I bought the German version of the 3rd edition of this book and of the one for female patterns in 2004. It was published by a different company, then: Rofur5. It's aimed at the Larp and "Mittelalterfest" (renaissance fairish events) crowd. The patterns are fairly simple (or simplyfied) and no or lit...
