I'm just not seeing the problem with these bows. As has been mentioned we'd need to start weeding out every self bow out there and check it for material suitability etc... Bows are not to be struck on the field and if not being used they are to be removed from the field.

I made mine out of sole grade leather, water hardened and then painted. I just pointed them to my maille with laces.
