Really beautiful. I've seen some other re-creations of the B.T., and this looks to be the best I've ever seen.

AEthelmearc Crown List
As posted this morning on the AEthelmearc email list: Greetings Unto Aethelmearc, On Behalf of Their Sylvan Majesties Christopher and Morgen, King and Queen of Aethelmearc, I present the Combatants for Their Crown Tournament to be held on the 14th day of May anno societatis 46 in the Barony of Black...

I have asked for more information on these rules, but in general I think they need a little clarification. As for the new helmet rules, I agree with them. Honestly, I'd get rid of spun tops completely; we have better technology. Mord. Well, I received an answer. I think I'll stick with sword and sh...

Queen Arnegunde find from St. Denis has a woman's outfit including pants and an overcoat, which is the closest you will probably come to having a feminine version of "generi-viking". http://antiquity.ac.uk/Ant/038/0201/Ant0380201.pdf I know there is more recent information out there, but this is the...

As I recall there are a number of Egyptian examples which date from the 11th through the 14th centuries. But yeah, for Europe, the earliest artifact I'm aware are the gloves and cushion for the tomb of Fernando de la Cerda, d. 1275. -Derian. No - not crochet. There are examples of naalbindin...

My niece brought us back a little picture book from the big museum in Cairo, Egypt. It had a set of figurines (ancient Egypt, mind, I'm not sure which kingdom) that had a group of spearmen, all carrying kite shaped shield but 'upside down' from what we are used to seeing. Mord and I can look it up t...

Back when each set of Royalty was still giving gifts to every other set of Royalty at Pennsic, I made up notecards for each kingdom. I searched for their arms on line ('cause I don't draw so good!), printed them in color from the computer, and included 4 3/8 x 5 1/4" envelopes to fit. They went over...

Rigid heddle and card weaving are not usually combined. I'd say she is using a simple shuttle with a rigid heddle "back loom" to do simple band weaving. Really quite common save for the egregiously large heddle. Thomas Duh - you're right - I agree! And yes, about the large heddle (although the pict...

Looks like a rigid heddle loom to me. An example from Hungary. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Madzag-szövő_(Tard)_(Hungary).JPG It looks like they are using the ironing board looking thing as a rigid heddle. Hi, everybody! I have been touting this book to anyone who will listen for two years now. As a former autocrat of Kingdom Crusades, I'm going to make a suggestion. That site, while a wonderful resource, was too small for the concept of Kingdom Crusades years ago. It would, however, be PERFECT for a ToC/Cloth of Gold type event. The fighting field was made for the kind of viewing stands/p...
