I like mine just fine, though I up-gunned it with a more meaty zip gun than is provided. If the metal is pinched pretty tight between the anvils, you'll get a great planish. The only issue I have with it is the anvil post- it's held in place by friction (a squeezing pipe/allen bolt affair) and tends...

SCA heavy list Burgeonet for sale

375 or best offer. Fits a 23-24 in. head. Used this helm for a few years, then switched time periods. Refinished, new rivets in visor pivots and integral gorget, and inside sprayed with auto undercoating. I'll probably be away from the PC until Monday, so I'll look at offers/answer questions then. What is the quench medium and at what temperature?

I am thinking water would give it to much thermal shock.

However a bucket of flaming splattering oil on my wife's back patio is a no no.

Hal
Pretty much what Gaston said....oil quench at about 1800, temper at 800-900.

WTB Heat Treatment for 4130 leg armor.

Hi Archivers,

I'm working on making a set of leg armor from the 4130 I bought from Sha-Ul here on the Archive, and was wondering if someone had the means to do the heat treatment for me.

Thanks!

I'll probably just take the parts in and talk to them in person. Offhand, does anyone know anyone who'd do heat treating on the Archive? I'll post to the Classifieds as well. Thanks again for the advice, everyone! I'd like to do it myself, but the cash outlay is a bit daunting, not to mention temper...
