Re: Armouring As A Career

Hello Guys, After say 20 years is business, only making custom pieces, being relativelly "famous", living in relatively cheap place, I think this way of business makes no economic sense, brings huge amount of stress, body abuse and frustration. If I knew what I know now those 20 years back, I would ...

Re: engraved / chiseled lines sidewise flutings

Mac, thank you very much.

The sample is the same, just with brushed top and matted to make it more visible for photo.

I used a diamond dresser for dressing. Angle grinder disk as Rene shows on saw blade should work too. Even diamond wheel wears with it.

Re: New project: Sallet in the Spanish style

Looks really smart Eric! one little detail if I may. I used to grind 90 degrees all the time, where possible, but then read in couple of books on topic, that the most effective is 45 degrees to previous. Tested and it really works, quicker and smoother that 90. You might give it a try.. all the best...

Re: Beverly Shear vs Bandsaw

Confirmed. 60 meters per minute not second. Frequency changer seems to be the right choice for the job since it is 1/15 from my current setting, allready slowed down from the motor

Re: Beverly Shear vs Bandsaw

Chris, thank you very much! I would feel much more comfortable if this moster is to run meter per second rather than 60 meters per second. My belt grinder runs about 30 meters per second and it looks scary enough to me...

Re: Beverly Shear vs Bandsaw

Wilhelm, thank you. This is a woodcutting saw origially. 700 pouds or something around 1980, manual is missing, but for my application would not be usefull anyway, I think, Changing pulleys would be easy, once I know the goal. I still hope it was just the misunderstanding with the Lenox technician, ...

Re: Beverly Shear vs Bandsaw

I called local Lenox suplier for the belts, he says 14 teeth only and speed 60m/s which is 198 feet per SECOND. I can not somehow ballance it with the numbers here. I am really confused. Re: Raising tall combs on helmets

Hi Guys, I definitelly agree with Wade, I tested the thicknesses with powerhammer work too. 4-5 mmworks fine for the sallet for example. requires edge thinning ets. What I think about the burgonet combs is that if you form the basic deep U shape, you hammer the sides "on the air" which increases the...

Re: Raised steel cooking pot

Steve, yes, you can also buy a Cheff´s knife at tesco for 5 dollars. Yet the handmade one by the professional knifesmith is 150? 200? Both products make sense to me.

I am sorry I forgot to mention it here - the pot is sold for a while!
