nothing against Kult of Athena ... but Hal over at Therionarms.com has always been top notch. I've bought a fair few items off him over the years.

Therion/Hal Siegal
If Therion carries it, I always purchase it from him. Have done about 6 purchases, never had a bad experience. Top notch communication, he'll give you his honest opinion about what is suitable for what.

sizes
what sizes are still available in white and black? My guys have been commenting on mine, I'll give them a last kick in the pants to order if they are going to. I love the black one I got from you at the beginning of the sale, it's been worn 3-4 days a week since then and is holding up great! cheers ...

The newest generation is a substantially better sword than previous iterations. If you have no joy finding a generation 4 used, consider saving up for retail from Hal at therionarms.com for $100

Dance. Wear your full kit, except the helmet and guants. Make sure you wear your gambeson. Go out to a rave/dance/whatever. Skip the X, don't skip the gatorade. Make it rain. That's where you close the doors and everyone just works out until the evaporated sweat starts to drip from the ceiling/walls...

If you're talking the red oak dowels that you can get at Lowe's builders square, etc, they tend to break really easilly. Look for tool handles, you might be able to get that hickory a lot cheaper than you think. In my neck of the woods, you can get a 1 inch ash rake handle for about 2.50, I'd take t...

Justus maybe whippy was the wrong word ... in the flexibility scale, I find rattan is much more flexible than ash, and ash is much more flexible than hickory. I've seen (and am trying to find) a picture of my ash baton warping about 2 inches when I landed a solid overhead blow on my buddy. I found t...

I think I have played with this exact baton. If its not the exact one, it's very similar. It is quite rigid, more rigid than my ash baton. It's weight felt around 2 1/2-3 pounds. No taper of any sort, balanced right in the middle. I'm not a SCAdian, but I can't imagine that this would be good for yo...

Mike a couple of the guys out here use them. They grip well, and are quite comfortable. The dye inside is not fixed (much like just about every 'swordfighting' glove I run into anymore), so plan on your hands turning red or black until you do it yourself. They do look pretty snazzy in person, if red...
