I dont know who made it, but I believe that is Duncan Von Halstern. Hes from Western PA I think. There are some folks from that area on this list. Perhaps if somebody sees him at practice or an event they could ask him for ya.

Black Oxide?

I am looking for some advice on the whole hot black oxide over stainless steel treatment. Has anyone had good luck with this? How tough is it, as in will it stand up to being hit? How about level of pre polish required or does it even matter?

Any feedback would be great, Thanks.

If youre gonna run lacing through the holes in your cop, a nice looking way to keep the cop from cutting your lace is to put a grommet through the hole and peen it open from the backside. Gives it a little touch of brass that may match the etching you mentioned in another post.

I own one and would not try 16g stainless. There are some good threads and somewhere a nice guide to getting the most out of one. My buddy bought one and on his first try on some mild 16g his blade chipped, had to buy new blades.

I would think you could get away with 18ga and 20ga mixed depending on the parts. Still, have to expect to be doing repairs as they (and your hands) get bashed.

These kits are well done. I highly recommend that you pick one up. They are Stainless and well cut with rivets and washers. There are really nice instructions online with pics of each step. Someone new can make these with a limited amount of tools and knowledge..... see even I did http://img.photobu...
