News of the Couter of Chivalry
Unto all good gentles of fine cote armour, I bring word of the most noble relic, the Couter of Chivalry. Now nine days ago, at Their Draconic Majesties' Tournament of Chivalry, did I challenge the most fierce and noble Duke Felix of Ramsay to three blows with the hewn lance. Before our ladies, Duche...

Re: Finishing Armour Standards, Ti and other metals
If you look at the Russian and Ukranian armorers, they appear to be getting a fine finish on titanium armor. There was one set at Pennsic this past month that had I not been told it was Ti I would never have known.

YES! The first one is what I was looking for. For some reason I had it in my head that it was a triangle stool, but that's not so clear to me now. I wish the gentleman's robes weren't quite so long!

Illumination of a Chair
Hi All - I KNOW I've seen an illumination from the late 14th C or early 15th C that features an older man sitting on a chair with a back pole/board. He is in the lower left corner. I believe it is in one of the health manuscripts or professional manuscripts, but for the life of me I can't find it an...

Re: Questions about Hardening Rattan
I'm not familiar with the BOTN rules, but if the haft doesn't have to be visibly "wood" this stuff will turn it into the equivalent of a steel pipe. It is crazy how hard this stuff gets. https://www.amazon.com/FiberFix-Repair-Tape-Wrap-Waterproof/dp/B009WSDWUG?fbclid=IwAR0gpMd98rWX-utqXatUMSYnkuNzPk...

I used one of these as a haft for a spear I took on a boar hunt. It did the job.

Side Mount Pig Face Bascinet with 2 Grills For Sale
Brand new, only worn once at practice, pig face bascinet by Cliffside Armoury. This helm is a 12 gauge top, 14 gauge skirt, hammer-formed stainless steel beauty. It comes strapped and padded, ready to wear: the padding is a sewn-in half inch anti-concussion foam suspension liner. The aventail is rou...

1380's French Arm Armor
Hi All - I'm commissioning a new kit to correspond with a 1380's French impression. We see two options in manuscripts for arm harness in this period - LONG closed rerebraces, or long sleeved jupons. Do we believe that the full arm harness was worn beneath the jupon? What form do we think the rerebra...

What is the measurement across the chest?
Can you lay it down on the table so I can get a better idea how much curve is in the belly?
Thanks,
-Gregoire.

16th C Tippet = Helm Decoration?
Hi All- A friend of mine is working on a book, translating some 16th C Scottish inventories/purchasing records. She has come across repeated entries for tippets. These are always white, always made from very thin silk, and are always referred to as being for a helmet. Any idea what these might be? W...

Thanks!

Re: Six Board Chest Question
The left rear leg as it appears in the painting is either exactly as you have reconstructed it, or it is a perspective failure by the artist. If it were a pair of boards (like I would like to reconstruct it) we should see the "L" shape... but we don't. If that doesn't make sense, I will draw someth...

Re: Six Board Chest Question
Take a look at the leg closest to the man carrying on the left. The bottom edge of the leg isn't quite parallel the orthographic projection of the long direction of the chest. There might also be 2 tones of shading. I think if I stare at it long enough I can lie to myself and say it's proving that ...

Ya' know... the more I think about it the more it seems like the basic construction might be sort of like that of an aumbry. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/1e/be/b6/1ebeb6724cc884cfc256f400dc3d729d.jpg Mac I don't see any nails holding the bottom of the aumbry inn place... Joinery?
