Many horses are worked in higher temps than 90
Vet and ferries on site? How about having info for locals who are aware of the event .

Re: Full Metal Jousting

It is simple. He got his foot stood on in a sand arena, he over-reacted badly and punched a horse in the head whilst wearing a steel manifer. He refused the punishment handed out by the horses owner, he refused to apologise. He was removed from the show. Can you imagine the bitching if nothing had ...

Re: Full Metal Jousting

Hello Everyone, It was for drama’s sake they blew this out of proportion. All horse riders know that sometimes you have to smack a horse! (whether it be with your hands, crop or spurs) The horse was crushing my little piggies, I had a split second before what I felt like my toes were gonna break so...

Re: Full Metal Jousting

So how exactly did James Fairclough (sp?) (THE HAMMER) get all cut up inside his helmet like that? I've never seen anything quite like that before. :? My speculation based on where they were stapling him vs how the helmet sits.... The padding bottomed out and the inner portion of the bolt for the l...

Re: Full Metal Jousting

I agree Luther with you .. just saying with the combined jousting experience there in the staff and I know quite a few of them well .. Just when it comes to this sport sometimes forgetting that detail can get someone hurt . I am still impressed but what you all pulled off in the time and budget rest...

Re: Full Metal Jousting

Serious question on the pauldrons/spaulders; it looks like they sit too low to me. Doesn't seem to matter much, since it's not really a "sword arm" like it would be in foot combat. It looks like they should sit a bit higher on the shoulder to look "right". I've seen several shots where the breast/b...

Re: Full Metal Jousting

Kaliban, who are you? Are you a jouster, I mean a jouster, not someone who had a go at it once? 'Cause you really seem to have a your period on about anything to do with jousting, regardless of who it is you seem to like to have a little whine in the background. Are you the guy that put a joust on ...

Re: Where are all of the TRUE Warriors?

Money wasn't the reason I withdrew. I can afford to go just fine. I became interested initially because I thought the combat would be more authentic than SCA combat, and later learned that it isn't, really. The absence of thrusting makes it just as inauthentic in its own way as SCA combat is. The o...

Re: Knights of Mayhem - did you watch?

Hi all, Whenever the subject of jousting comes up, I find it interesting to see how folks can be so quick to focus on some detail, be it the personalities involved or the particular style of harness or lance, instead of focusing on the common elements. I usually refer to jousting as an example of d...

Re: Jousting questions

Rules for jousting very greatly over time and place. Broken lances appears to be the most common scoring method but certainly there were times and places where unhorsings were the goal. In Tudor and Elizabethan England we have surviving scoring checks showing point scoring for touches to the body o...

Re: Knights of Mayhem - did you watch?

Watched it on On Demand and cringed the whole time. Then got to see John Clements on the "Fight Book" show. All we needed was a 'how to make armour' by Dark Victory, or "basic accounting" by Brian Price and we will be good to go!!! Please don't rank on Dark Victory. They guy is a good man who is ju...
