Re: Armour for sale- help us restore an old house!
EDIT: I put this info in the original post after being alerted that it was not visible or present at all (thank you, guys!). Let's try this for photos: https://photos.app.goo.gl/M1uQYcujNPphEM778 As to sizes and descriptions: Coat of plates: Legally acquired street sign aluminum with three layer can...

Armour for sale- help us restore an old house!
Hey folks, We're in the process of buying a 1904 home. It needs work. Rather than move this stuff there, I want to turn it into funds to revive the house. Let's try this for photos: https://photos.app.goo.gl/M1uQYcujNPphEM778 As to sizes and descriptions: Coat of plates: Legally acquired street sign...

Re: Who are active armourers in the N. Illinois and S. Wisconsin?
I would definitely be interested. Probably would not be a regular with the distance, family, and school but I would make the effort to pop down a few times, especially in summer.

Re: Who are active armourers in the N. Illinois and S. Wisconsin?
I was a little more active before I started law school in September. I do have a shop available, but I haven't done much lately. I had a lot of motivation when lockdown hit and it did not last. I'm hoping to do a little more over winter break. Recent work here (Set to public, no FB membership requir...

Well, that's a bummer. They do have a very similar buckle without the plate... for $1 more.

As far as where to get some... I thought these looked passable, for the price.

Hey folks! It has come to my attention that I have more armour than money. And I need the second more than I need the first. Re: ISO fighting turnshoe recommendations
I've been looking and the conclusion I've come to is either to build my own shoes to fit (because I can't find anything commercially available that ends just above the ankle) or to build new greaves to fit over my existing footwear. Neither is appealing, so I hope for both our sakes someone proves m...

Re: Unknown Breastplate
The barrel look most modern CoPs have is because they are too loose and too long. They should end at the navel and fit closely- this means they provide the gathered look at the waist while the gambeson and and maille over the hips provide the flair tailoring the leather or fabric shell can help a gr...

Bascinet and 14th Century Arms for sale
These didn't sell the last time I tried. So I'm slashing the prices, since I have lost a huge chunk of my storage space. It's worth more to me to have the space they're taking up. Buyer pays shipping. Without further ado- Images here- http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2090561&id=184605084&l=1133...

One thing that worked for me when I was trying to remove rust and grease from a Von Sussen aventail- -Place maille in closeable, DENSE WEAVE, cloth bag. -Insert ashes from wood-burning stove. -Moisten contents of bag. -Place bag in dryer. (This is why the bag needs to be tough and of dense weave. I ...

The maille look looks the most complete to me. The arm harnesses without any shoulder protection make the kit look partial to me in every other configuration, even though you're wearing more armour than a majority of SCA fighters. With the maille over the shoulders, or alternatively, the arms under ...

Click the Facebook link- it's the first five pictures. Assuming practice is happening in Jaravellir I'm going to take the arms and helm with me. If you inquire between 5 and 11 today, there is a small chance someone else may have already bought one or both of the items... I doubt that's going to hap...

So I am two months away from graduating from UW Green Bay- and my bank account looks like it. So, you guessed what comes next, I sell some things that I like, but I know I'm never going to use. So here's what's for sale- 1. Mild Steel Bascinet with Exchange Visors- This is the first really functiona...

Joseph- I'd say that that particular style probably faded out of use by the knightly class around 1320, based on the cut of the shell -hemlines rose throughout the 14th century both in civilian and military dress, and the length of this piece suggests it would only be fashionable very early in the 1...

I wear rigid gas permeable contacts- my vision is literally bad enough that soft contacts can't do the job. The only time I've ever lost a lense in combat, I was wearing a helm that did not fit and that was stretching the skin around my forehead just enough that if I blinked too hard, I'd lose one. ...

I thought that might be what you meant. It'd be really hard to hold on to a weapon like that. I also don't know if it would be possible to build, but I wouldn't put it past the technical skills of some here. I am curious why you'd need them to cover the palm and interior of the hand- if you're holdi...

Do you mean for the Combat of the Thirty? Finger guantlets are perfectly appropriate for that. And how fully enclosed do you mean? There are several armourers making finger gauntlets that have each finger ground out on the weapon. Personally, wearing something like them hurts my hands as they splay ...
