Armour for sale- help us restore an old house!

Hey folks, We're in the process of buying a 1904 home. It needs work. Rather than move this stuff there, I want to turn it into funds to revive the house. Let's try this for photos: https://photos.app.goo.gl/M1uQYcujNPphEM778 As to sizes and descriptions: Coat of plates: Legally acquired street sign...

Re: Who are active armourers in the N. Illinois and S. Wisconsin?

I would definitely be interested. Probably would not be a regular with the distance, family, and school but I would make the effort to pop down a few times, especially in summer.

Re: Who are active armourers in the N. Illinois and S. Wisconsin?

I was a little more active before I started law school in September. I do have a shop available, but I haven't done much lately. I had a lot of motivation when lockdown hit and it did not last. I'm hoping to do a little more over winter break. Recent work here (Set to public, no FB membership requir...

Well, that's a bummer. They do have a very similar buckle without the plate... for $1 more. :?

As far as where to get some... I thought these looked passable, for the price.

Hey folks! It has come to my attention that I have more armour than money. And I need the second more than I need the first. Re: ISO fighting turnshoe recommendations

I've been looking and the conclusion I've come to is either to build my own shoes to fit (because I can't find anything commercially available that ends just above the ankle) or to build new greaves to fit over my existing footwear. Neither is appealing, so I hope for both our sakes someone proves m...

Re: Unknown Breastplate

The barrel look most modern CoPs have is because they are too loose and too long. They should end at the navel and fit closely- this means they provide the gathered look at the waist while the gambeson and and maille over the hips provide the flair tailoring the leather or fabric shell can help a gr...

Bascinet and 14th Century Arms for sale

These didn't sell the last time I tried. So I'm slashing the prices, since I have lost a huge chunk of my storage space. It's worth more to me to have the space they're taking up. Buyer pays shipping. Without further ado- Images here- http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2090561&id=184605084&l=1133...

One thing that worked for me when I was trying to remove rust and grease from a Von Sussen aventail- -Place maille in closeable, DENSE WEAVE, cloth bag. -Insert ashes from wood-burning stove. -Moisten contents of bag. -Place bag in dryer. (This is why the bag needs to be tough and of dense weave. I ...

Under 30 seems to be young for the SCA, at least in my limited experience.

The maille look looks the most complete to me. The arm harnesses without any shoulder protection make the kit look partial to me in every other configuration, even though you're wearing more armour than a majority of SCA fighters. With the maille over the shoulders, or alternatively, the arms under ...

Those are the measurements of my arm, no padding, that the arms were built to fit. I figured that was simpler than finding a way to measure the arm circumference inside the vambrace, which in my opinion seemed to be trickier than it was worth.

I'm shooting for a look that screams "14th Century English Man-at-Arms from Crecy" to the educated eye... So I agree with Klaus.

Also, bump. Visor is currently spoken for. If that changes, I will reflect that here.

Joseph- I'd say that that particular style probably faded out of use by the knightly class around 1320, based on the cut of the shell -hemlines rose throughout the 14th century both in civilian and military dress, and the length of this piece suggests it would only be fashionable very early in the 1...
