Re: What the DUCK!!!!!!!!!
what the hell was the deal with all the rubber ducks being thrown at gulf wars this year?? Someone said they represent rocks......rocks? Didn't our armor minimum protect against hand thrown rocks?? Next year, Sean, we'll bring rubber chipmunks of revenge, appropriately duct taped, of course. K? :tw...

I was pretty insular and spent most of Lilies fishing and kayaking, so didn't see a lot of folks. Even as we were repairing tents from saturday morning I had 3 lines in water (as evidenced by the pic below). Can't catch 'em if you're not trying. Had a nice little fish fry on Saturday. And the firewo...

I've torn both mine while fighting. The first in 2005 and the 2nd in 2006. The doc did a hamstring graft on both which he claimed would be stronger than my original ACLs within a year of surgery. I've had no issues since the surgery, but the doc happily let me know that we could do this twice more o...

I have a large wall tent that I bought in 2005 from Blockade Runners. I purchased, with it, the set up kit, which came with poles, ropes, ridge, sleeve and stakes. In short: I love this tent, and for the price it could hardly be passed up at the time. I have no complaints about the canvas whatsoever...

I too enjoyed meeting everyone! Sorry I didn't get to fight with everyone I wanted to. I had a serious case of vacationitis combined with the fact that I gacked my ankle pretty badly on the first day. I fought a few of the battles, but mostly just enjoyed my war by relaxing on the veranda. Hope ever...

Most ACL injuries result because the foot plants and the rest of you goes a different direction. My first one was a plant and turn injury. If my shoes weren't as grippy, it MAY not have happened. That said, I stay away from slick soled shoes, for the most part. The injuries I get when biffing could ...

But, I wonder, were you using FRICTION tape or "athletic" tape? Friction tape looks like athletic tape, but has sticky all over it. I HATE that stuff, it sticks to everything and after a long fight I have to PEEL my hand off the grip, yuck. but regular cloth athletic tape I have never really had a ...

Hey all, Good suggestions so far. Nissan, I'll take you up on that if I can catch you at war. At the least I'd love to see what your swords look like, especially if you're using a trigger. I do shave my handles to fit my hand and create a more oblong shape instead of round. That works to some degree...

Issues with gripping cross hilted swords
Posting this so as not to derail Vitus' thread with his cool cross hilted sword and rondel dagger + awesome scabbards. So green with envy. As I alluded in that thread, I really would like to regularly use cross hilted swords someday, but I 've always had issue with them. I have never been able to gr...

But consider that perhaps these traits are the that very thing that allows us to truly "hang" in SCA combat.

I also don't feel the need to knock any fighter into next week who is new and has no appreciable defence.
