Reclaiming the Blade by Galatia Films

I just finished watching my newly arrived copy of Reclaiming the Blade by Galatia Films. Overall I'm pretty impressed by this effort. The film provides a very well-balanced view of the sword and its place in both medieval/renaissance and modern cultures. There were only a few minor comments that cau...

I stopped using oils on my mail a long time ago, far too messy and unneccesary. I now spray it down with Future acrylic floor polish a couple of times a year and it's rust free.

Beauty. Just stunning in it's simplicity of form. What period is the original dated to? The dating of the original is something of a debate. The British Museum dates it to the 14th cent. However, Oakeshott dated it to the begining of the 12th century, based primarily on the style of inlay present o...

While a had a few issues with historicity, etc, the armour and in general the military scenes were superb. Perhaps the best I have seen in movies. This is perhaps because of awesome Captain Dale Dye , who advised (and acted!) in Stone's "Platoon" as well as being in charge of the training and milit...

A little sword bling.

I thought my Albion Senlac needed a little dressing up and this was my solution: I had this small pendant from Raymonds Quite Press lying around so I decided to put it to use. Earlier I'd darkened the pommel and gaurd, to give it an iron-like or aged look and I think it contrasts nicely with the cro...

To be correct, it's Jody Samson , not Sampson. Jodys passing is the end of an era. His work in Conan the Barbarian had a great impact on me and I ho...
