No problem on the delay. My barrels are under about 4 feet of snow/ice right now anyway.
I had pneumonia last month, couple days in the hospital and two weeks in bed. It's no joke, so get better. Murphy's Law can really suck sometimes.

Re: FS Two Sets Merctailor Spaulders w/ Besagues
Just adding to what everybody else is saying. I love Al's work. I have a full harness from him and it's protective as hell. I'm like a walking tank! I don't feel hits, I have to judge by sound or how much I move from impact. His stuff is Great! every time I see another thread from him, I wish I had ...

The leather that I have is a very thick rodeo chap type hide. Nice and soft with no stretch, should work great.

Re: Help w/ Chanfron & Crinet Articulation
Guys, thanks again. It really helps to get good insight from "those in the know". When I said "flared" bottom edges, I was thinking maybe 1/4 inch from the bottom edge and only bringing it out a few degrees. In my mind, I pictured something like bumper panels on a hay wagon only MUCH smaller and ver...

Owner and maker of a full high gothic horse armour for my Friesian. PICS!! :D Grant +1 Thanks for the info everyone. This is kinda what I thought but I wanted to be sure. I think I will flair the bottom edges a bit. I was hoping that I could get away without rolling the edges (I could never really ...

Help w/ Chanfron & Crinet Articulation
I have been searching the archive and have come up short. I am looking for pics of the interior of chanfrons & crinets. Specifically, I’m looking for placement of rivets to the leather and spacing of how far in from the edge I need to be with the leather. For the crinet, I get the impression that th...

Adrian,
Here is a link to how I did mine. It's nowhere near as nice as Sean’s, but it is quick and easy to set up and doesn’t cost much either. Good luck on your efforts.

Adrian, I've had armour from MercTailor since 2003/2004. Full harness minus helmet (sorry Allan, but you don't have armets). I still have yet to see an issue with the articulation rivets. I've had to replace rivets when the leather straps got ripped off (bad hit to the tassets, leather failed not th...

SCA Jousting Lance Plans?
Does anyone have easy plans for an SCA legal lance? Also, does anyone know of a supplier for the cardboard tubes in the correct thickness and length? I have a friend with a lathe who will turn some lance bases for me if I give him good dimensions. I made a jousting list and I'd like to do more than ...

Re: Review: 15th C. Brigandine by Michal Plezia “Elchon”
Just a side note:
Now I need to make a cover for the brigandine to protect the velvet from tape smears involved in SCA style fighting. I'm thinking tabbard style or something like an oversized vest out of linen or light leather. Does anyone have suggestions?

That is one good looking Brig. How true is the color on the photos? Also anyone clicking through to the site, language is in Polish, click the little England flag. Also if you want to know how much 2000-5000 PLN is, its about $750- 1700 US. Not sure how much the one pictured cost. Squire, The color...

Review: 15th C. Brigandine by Michal Plezia “Elchon”
Michal Plezia gets 5’s across the board! He usually makes leather brigs, but I asked him to make me one with 100% silk velvet. He agreed and I sent him the velvet (he now has a supplier). There were some issues with his normal rivets/nails pulling through during testing of the material. He managed t...

Re: Numeral use in Medieval Europe?
Thanks for the info. I thought Arabic numerals would have been easier for anyone using math on a regular basis. Where my thoughts are flawed is that I forgot that you use what you have. I have to translate Roman to Arabic to do math and if Roman is all you have, you know how to do it well. I wanted ...

Numeral use in Medieval Europe?
Just curious here. When did Western Europe adopt the use of Arabic Numerals? Was everything done in Latin until then? Everything that I have seen in iconography shows Latin. Was the use of Latin reserved for the noble class while the ordinary folk used something else for day-to-day dealings?

Sorry that it's taken me a while to get back to this. Haven't been able to put the toy to use until lately.
