Re: My ears should have been burning

You fellas have me pegged though. I am one of those nobody-makes-swords-better-than-Albion Sword Forum types with a copy of Oakeshott sitting beside me on my desk at all times. Strangely enough, I have never posted on that forum nor have I contacted Chad Arnow who lives in my hometown of Cincinnati...

For Sale: Armi Bianche Italiane

Yes, that Armi Bianche. I know this is an armour forum, but some folks might be interested in this book. This is Lionello Boccia's and Eduardo Coelho's monumental book on Italian edged weapons. It's a very (very) large book packed with 800 photos of weapons and art involving weapons. It covers the 1...

For Sale: 2,500 Years of European Helmets (rare book)

Here's another copy of Howard Curtis's 2,500 Years of European Helmets . Curtis was a Hollywood stuntman and noted collector of arms and armour. This book was published in 1978. It is chock full of 169 pictures of helms plus period art (yes, I counted ). All kinds of helms are pictured. Here is how ...

Update: only 2 copies left. Below are some notes on condition and pricing. Copy 1) Immaculate, as new, as described above. Price still $219 + s/h. Copy 2) Not as good as the person I bought it from led me to believe. It's not in bad shape, but it's not quite as-new. There is minor wrinkling to 2 sec...

Matt, I'm really looking for cash so I can afford some other things I have on order. How long do you think it would be until you might have cash (ballpark, of course)? If it's a month or so and you're serious about buying a copy, I'd consider holding one for you. if it's going to be a long time, or ...

For Sale: 2,500 Years of European Helmets (rare book)

I've found a few more copies of this great and rare book. It's Howard Curtis's 2,500 Years of European Helmets. Curtis was a Hollywood stuntman and noted collector of arms and armour. This book was published in 1978. It is chock full of 169 pictures of helms plus period art (yes, I counted ). All ki...

Interesting discussion, though it's not helping me sell my book. If people want to pay the price, they will. If they don't, they won't. In the end, it's on me to price something where I want to and on potential buyers to decide if they want to pay that price. Obviously, I feel the price is fair (and...

That is one of the Great Armor Books. I don't want to rain on your parade, but I'd be a little surprised if it sold at that price, what with the economy and all... It is a fantastic book, though. I've seen copies of this sell for more than I'm asking in the past. There's also a copy out there on th...

A summary of the contents, if you please. Best, John The title translates as "Lombardic Arms & Armour". The text and captions are in Italian. The photos are of Italian arms and armour of the Lombardy region from the 12th-13th century through the 17th (at least). The sections cover (se...

For Sale: Boccia's Armi e Armature Lombarde

This is the super-rare book Armi e Armature Lombarde by Lionello Boccia, Francesco Rossi, and Marco Morin. This is even more rare than Boccia's much-sought-after Armi Bianche Italiane. It is a large book, taller than Armi Bianche, though not as thick. It has 362 pictures of Italian period art and ar...

That Ken Trotman copy is no longer available (I enquired about it, too). That's the lowest price I'd seen on one *ever* and it made me wonder a little bit... There was one on Abebooks more recently for $150 with some damage (bowed front cover, previous owner's bookplate, stain to one of the endpaper...

Yep. Often the only copies available are the limited edition with a matching clamshell box.

could you give me an approx. as to the head size it can fit I belive mine is about a 22" around give or take a brain cell. I'd be very interested in it. My head is about 23 inches and it fits me with no padding. I think with an appropriate liner, it'd be great for a head a little smaller than mine.

Windlass Burgonet w/falling buffe for sale [SOLD]

Hey folks, I'm putting my Windlass/MRL burgonet with falling buffe for sale. It's made of 18 gauge steel with brass trim. The buffe (face guard) is articulated, allowing it to be opened via a spring loaded stud. The buffe is held to the helm via an adjustable leather strap. The cheek flaps are hinge...
