Re: Blazons 2000
Anyone have a copy of this? The website has been down forever. I don't need the reg numbers or anything, just the basic program itself. Thanks! yeah, I should have it at home in one of my archive CDs, but I'd rather go with Maitre D"Arms as far as graphics and complexity of the blazon options. If y...

how about this helmet?
is any armorer making something like this, or owuld be willing to? A Wenceslaus Norman with a full wrap grill, I dont want those roman looking side plates and back, and my persona is late 11th - early 12th century and I dont have use for a greathelm, so oa norman is the only option, but im convinced...

Shield 1 represents what the founders of the Templar Order had on their shields in that famous 2 knights on a horse seal. It is if you will, the "official" visuals of their shield. Shield 2 represents a rarity, as indicated by several authors...

I darkened (or blued) my coif simply by putting it in my oven at 500 degrees for about 45 minutes. Removed it carefully so not to burn myself, and it was visibly darker (a dark brown-blue color), and immediately dropped it in a bucket filled with tap water. The thing boiled instantly of course, and ...

Or you could do what the pros do. Cut your pleather wider than it needs to be, coat the scabbard with contact cement (I hear barge works well) and make a seamless wrap. If you're going to have another go at the stitching, I'd suggest dubbling over the ends of the pleather to add strength and the th...

you may wanna add about 1/4- 3/16 on both sides on the back... overlapping them and sewing the bulk together makes a nicer seam IME. absolutely!, the benefits of making a template first with pleather, I'll add close to 1/4" to allow for a nice overlap of the final leather piece. placide et humilius...

Nicely done. A baseball stitch done with two needles will close up the full-length seam.( Just look at a baseball, you'll see what I mean.) Your lacing is good. Do take the time to gather some money, buy some elkskin and some smooth leather, and do another scabbard, pretty enough to pass on as an h...

Sword scabbard in pictures
I finally got time to start on my scabbard, and today I cut my pleather template and actually made a scabbard to test the fit and overall look and feel of it. So far it has taken me about 3 hours to fabricate the wood scabbard, and maybe 45 minutes for the pleather. I will post more photos as I get ...

The use of trebuchets and siege towers was correct, with the one caveat that I am not sure the swinging counterweight for the trebuchet existed at this time - they might have been using only fixed counterweights. I've seen a depiction of a swinging counterweight trebuchet used during the siege if A...

Deny me this: in any historical-setting picture, from Dr. Zhivago to freakin' Clan of the Cave Bear... the absolute least historically accurate costume will be the leading lady's. I dont know, I thought that Princess Isabelle in Braveheart and Princess Katherine in Henry V were pretty good, attire ...

That's not a talbot. Looks more like a wolf or greyhound... Talbots, by definition, have big, floppy ears, not standing ones. I think it's either a "generic dog" or otherwise "unclear to us" animal, or a banner done by someone who knows graphic arts and sewing better than he knows heraldry. Effingh...

Re: heraldry question - dog's head
I took this picture a few days ago and wanted to know if it was a piece of heraldry anyone was familiar with or had seen before. No luck asking the people who owned the store about it, they enver got back to me: m If it is I'd like to know more about it and would be intrested if there is a copy any...

I don't understand - they're right there. Perhaps we're hitting a problem with language. When I say "hose" I mean woollen stockings, as opposed to trousers. With the undertanding that this is a MOVIE, not a DOCUMENTARY, I have to say that I was impressed. Some of you know that I'm a WWII Reenactor as well, and the same phenomenon happened for WWII when the movie Saving Private Ryan came out. Making my own pavillion / tent.
Now that I got my personal gear and armor pretty much done, I am in need of a place to stay, so my next endeavor is to build my own pavillion. In looking for references I have only been able to find photos and/or images of the pavillions/tents that the vendors sell. But I'm in need of some graphics ...

Is there any interest in coat of plates kits? I'm in the process of cutting a few out and it would be easy to knock out a few more while I'm in this stage. I can provide the plates (punched and formed), buckles, and leather. I can't provide rivets. Another question, how much should an enterprising ...
