Re: Looking for sources for Merovingian soft kit and bling
That certainly is a beautiful piece, though I’m looking more for sources that describe what bothgenders wore, where they wore it, and how much of it was worn.

Looking for sources for Merovingian soft kit and bling
Hi All, I haven’t posted here in a while
I’m looking for any pointers to good sources for Merovingian clothing (men’s and women’s) as well as a source for what jewellery/adornments were worn by both men and women.
Any help would be appreciated.

Like this?
I didn't wear it in combat - mines over stuffed and definitely would dull shots. Also becuase it would be knocked off the helm.

Re: Shawm/Cortel help needed.
Oh, I think a rookie musician is going to be part of the problem, at least for awhile. I'll add a pic of the bell tonight once I get home.
Cutting my own reeds could be an interesting project. I'll have to look into that.

Shawm/Cortel help needed.
I've recently acquired a replica of a shawm or cortel (the seller was not clear which it was). It's made of a plastic-ish material by Musisca Ltd. ~1980. My question is about the bell - which is sealed (Pic to follow). Should it be like this? Do you think it would be playable? The seller said yes, b...

Re: Jewelry Find
the garnets themselves were not 'crosshatched', there was a foil backing that was stamped with that design into it. There is still confusion as to how the dies were made on such a small scale with such precision. Here is a link that you can see the gold foil backing still in place. http://www.staff...

Review - Halberds sabaton stake
Hi All,
I've just received Halberds Sabaton tool.
I have nothing but praise for Halberd and his gear.
Communication was excellent, the stake is as described and well made. Packaging was great and he included a bonus tool and How-To instructions.
Buy from him with confidence.

I actually think the descriptions of his actions meet a good bit of the definition. I also did not call him a psychopath, I said psychopathy (which is used interchangeably with sociopathy) is what comes to mind when I see recounts of his interactions with others. I have never met him, nor interacte...

I just added moob to my spell check. :D You just made my day. So, putting aesthetics aside, yes just for the moment, to talk about mechanical aspects of armour - if prominant moobs thins metal would any combatant want to wear armour that was inferior in protective ability? And if they did th...

1. Breast plates that have separate bulges for each breast are not practical. One thing you missed out Lucas was the "moobs" ability to capture a blow and direct it towards the centre of the chest rather then direct it away. A question for you Hal (and other armourers) if something like the attatch...
