Re: Fencing and Heavy armor/protection minimums

And it is the reason that we can't fight from our knees in C&T, or so my 3rd+? hand source tells me. Some new crossover fighter (a Duke, IIRC) hit someone on the ground too hard and cut or concussed him through his mask. Instead of saying "That was way to f**king hard, don't do that!", they decided...

Hey Morgan. How's things in the Meridies? Don't know about Alejandro by my recommendations generally are: For basic generic SCA rapier: William Wilson's "Arte of Defense" For Basic swordplay: Aldo Nadi "On Fencing" Anything by Nick Evagelista, or William Gaugler But my preference would be to get the...

Sir Daniel asked: But with heavier armour, something protective but not neccesarily period even (I'm thinking of some of that techno-armour made with zoombang and plastic for instance) you would have full mobility and flexibility, but you could actually go full speed and full power? Re: The CUlture of WMA

WMA Culture? I'm afraid that would be like describing SCA Household Culture. Some schools are arranged around particular masters e.g. Schola Saint George tends to focus on Fiore. Some schools tend to work from the spectrum of available material e.g. ARMA and AEMMA. Some tend to focus on freeplay and...

Count Johnathan, please let me see if I've got this straight. According to you, because I've found a pastime (the SCA) which I enjoy. And because I have found other activities that can and have been incorporated into the pastime (rapier and C&T). It would be better for the SCA and me if Rapier and C...

Re: The future of C&T

@ Sean, you and I are basically on the same page. My concern is that some people see the armor on C&T fighters and forget it is there for safety. I really like the idea of counted blows for mixed armor types, and we could even hold time specific tourneys . . . a la Combat of the Thirty, which could ...

Re: The future of C&T

I don't want to rain on anybody's parade, but I would prefer if C&T actually worked more historically than current armored combat rules. I could see 2 basic sets of combat under C&T rules: Armored and Unarmored. In armored combat cuts to plate armor would be ignored. You need to either strike or thr...

The argument which was put forward to me was that most youth under the age of 12 did have have enough muscular development to handle the heavier blades. In fact in some kingdoms what I consider a regression has actually occurred the kids use plastic foils. I cringe every time I see those.

I absolutely agree...and it is worth mentioning that, just as equally, anyone could start their own pre 1600's chivalric tournament organization. Perhaps they could even call it the "Real SCA"* The exact same argument could be made for those who want to remove anything except rattan combat. . . J-M

Literally the Latin translation would be hammer of (which belongs to) God.
The Latin would be: Deus Mallei. (the genitive case of Malleus).

In Latin word order does not matter. In English we rely on word order to give information that Latin provides with the various endings added to words. For example: Puer puellae bellae rosam dat. It translates as: I fail when all else, I drink.

You need to make sure your verb matches the subject. Online translations tend to only give the 1st person singular of a verb.
