Justin - I'll take the measurements tomorrow (it is late here), but I can already tell you that you'll probably have to enlarge the pattern, because I am about 5'8" and 130 lbs. My legs could be someone else's arms  Well hey, I'm only an inch and a half taller, and only 10 pounds heavier! :D L...

I may be interested in making half gaunts. How thick is the leather? And what the sq. ft?

Spring pin attachment for Demi Greave to Greave?
I decided that I'm basing my kit roughly on Friedrich Kurfurst "The Elector" so I began looking at the pictures I took in the Kunsthistorisches museum in Austria when I noticed how his Demi Greave is seemingly attached with a spring pin. Now are those ovular holes? It would allow it to slide and giv...

You can try drilling or punching a couple of holes in an unimportant (cosmetically speaking) place and then setting loose rivets with washers in those holes, that'll quiet'it up some. Or you can use Dynamat, which is used in car stereos for sound insulation, you can find that at Best Buy. Heard a lo...

What's an *Adequate* Depth for Couters?
Yes - so I grabbed a bit of the 16 gauge I had lying around for pair of arms that's far underway and began happily dishing the first couter. I had initially used heat, and everything was moving fast - too be expected with heat - got it looking nice and deep (because deep is best), so I switched to r...

Good Dish Size For Couters?
Hello all, Just a quick question - What would be a good dish size for let's say... Couters? Using Ironmonger Armoury for example produces 6'' x 1.75'' dishes for couters, but that doesn't seem sufficient, with raising aside, dishing for an elbow. I'm just curious to know because I plan on making a p...

Well, don't feel bad, I'm sure it will still function fine. But I say start another! Everything besides the "Globosity" of the breastplate looked fantastic, go forth and make something globular! -Justin BTW: A groat was the common name for a English silver coin, so it would be similar to say "my two...

No, I agree with Cat, that looks quite a bit better than my first attempt at a knife. Mine was basically a sharpened bit of metal with a grotesque wooden thing at the end that I called a handle, it was sharp... but nothing close ot pretty. Very Nice, I love how your handle flows so nicely, what kind...

Very nice - only criticism is when you flared - did you use the sharp edge of the anvil? Next time try either rounding a portion of your anvil, or weld up a simple "T" stake to fit in a vice or tree stump made of 1'' round or square barstock. Round over and polish - it makes a great simple stake. An...

Well, I've had it for some 2 years now - it's terrible for metal, it's not even good for deburring edges. But it is all right for wood... Too bad I don't work wood! But it's lack of power, and that disk on the side that doesn't ever stay on makes me never want to buy HF stuff again. Usually I ...
