What he said!
Remember to clamp the stuff you're cutting, vibrations can help consume these babies really fast.
But I only use 1mm discs now (well one or two 1.3mm if I stumble upon them)
They are swift cutters, even in your fingers..

Hi! Have you talked to Albert and Per about visiting, since you are in Sweden.. I know it's not really that close, but if they have the time, I bet they can give you lots of opinions on modern vs medieval methods and such.. They are both very nice guys.. And if you need some carbon steel sheets, I'v...

Being short of time for the moment, I can only suggest weldingtipsandtricks youtube channel or check their website http://www.weldingtipsandtricks.com A lot of good stuff there! How thick is the material you're welding? Good luck! I'll try to get back to this thread when time is more on my side.. Ch...

Re: Stainless sallet with bevor and brass bling (SCA)
It is made by Niklas Westén (nowadays Niklas Wadenbäck and in the SCA aka Nikolas de Mont Nord) in Nordmark, Drachenwald. He made a lot of stuff in the late eighties and the nineties.. And I am pretty sure that the bowl is made from 2mm stainless, I hung around his workshop in Örebro quite a lot at ...

Re: Uninjured Armourers?
Well, I don't think my pains solely comes from armouring. Neglecting physical activities and training is probably the major reason for back and neckpains and stuff. I started doing pilates about ten months ago, that really helps. Getting your posture right does a lot of good for pain relief and avoi...

Maybe a cake?
I once went to an SCA event in Sweden where they served cake looking like the remnants of a knight, slayed by a dragon, very spectacular and tasty!!

Peikko, true! "The Battle of Wisby 650 years" took place during the medieval week i Wisby, and during that week there is a lot of different groups attending and a lot of SCA'dians, So there will be a lot of anachronistic situations!

Re: Yay! My new TIG has arrived and I am in love!!!
what is the benefit of a tig over a mig? is it better for thin steel? What sha-ul said.. And you have better control over the amount of filler that is put into the weld seam, so you can't eliminate a whole lot of grinding and cleaning up afterwards. It's a lot like welding with gas but you use an e...

Tried it on some regular steel tubing yesterday. My love grows! :D It's a smooth machine, I have used an old three phase ESAB LTF 150 air cooled DC machine for over ten years and recently a single phase water cooled Kemppi Mastertig 2300 AC/DC machine and the Fronius works as steady as the ESAB but ...

Yay! My new TIG has arrived and I am in love!!!
I just had to tell you.. I have bought a new TIG welder, a Fronius Magic Wave 3000 Job. A 300 Amps water cooled baby that pulses, tacks and delivers a massive amount of power when I'm welding aluminium, wich seems to be about all I do for the moment.. :D I will return with a real review later on whe...

Yes, that's the one! The Aranäs helmet is made from three pieces. It was found in the burned remnants of the castle Aranäs in 1916. http://www.historiska.se/template/RelatedImagePopup.aspx?parent=22318&image=22319 And if you look at the different pictures in sieppolukkos posted link you can see th...

Not at all armor but a bit of brass (girdlebook)
I had this girdlebook lying around for a long time and now a friend wanted a gift for a librarian at work at Örebro University, Sweden. So I thought that it was time to finish it of with some brasspieces, I think it turned out quite nice.. It's calfskin and very nice french paper. So, what do you t...
