Sir Digby I've been visiting the frontierfolk site for info, just not joined the forums yet. Thanks for the Yahoo link

Bob Thanks for the tips on what you did. I'm looking at a basic shirt pattern, not really with fringe more or a frayed hem look.

oop sewing help please

I am attending a reenactment event in feb and need some help with handsewing methods. I need to make a colonial era longhunter shirt in the time frame of 1750 - 1790. What would be the appropriate type of hand stitching for the period. I'm not much with a needle and thread but I thought I might give...

torq construction help

Off topic for armor but I need some help here. I've been asked to make a torq but I can't find anything useful on construction techniques. Anyone have some good links? Will probably use copper wire as a test run because of ease of aquisition, then do the final in silver.

Thanks

sutton hoo shield

I didn't want to hijack Raedwald's exceedingly nice kit thread to pose this question. Let me state this question has no issues with Paul's shield, the repro is very nicely done within the context of the artifacts available. So does anyone besides me have issues with how incomplete the shield looks? ...

I also think there was a good photo tutorial over on Don Fogg blade site if i recall by jim cooper (sharp by coop) which uses an inexpensive tent setup made of pvc pipe / cloth. I'll look later and see if i can hunt it down.

You guys catch where the eagle snatched the wolf, talons right around the top jaw, makin bites difficult. Then again the wolf didn't stand a chance when he was winning, mongols double teamed him with another eagle.
