As I said in the thread I'm in research mode atm, and I am finding (as is usually the ca...

I am attending a reenactment event in feb and need some help with handsewing methods. I need to make a colonial era longhunter shirt in the time frame of 1750 - 1790. What would be the appropriate type of hand stitching for the period. I'm not much with a needle and thread but I thought I might give...

Ultragotha this is going to be a research project first, as I haven't a clue to what I'm doing :D I've found I need to learn how to loft a set of plans, what ever the hell that is LOL ! I've looked at a software program called HULLS for profiles, which I will check out later next week when all the d...

I need to do some more research and find contacts for faerings. I believe I visited an internet site in Sweden that showed some construc...

torq construction help
Off topic for armor but I need some help here. I've been asked to make a torq but I can't find anything useful on construction techniques. Anyone have some good links? Will probably use copper wire as a test run because of ease of aquisition, then do the final in silver.
Thanks
Thanks

talaananthes even if the organic covering has decayed and long gone I was interested to see if any other indications for covering / embellishment existed, for example fibre impressions left where at contact with the wood. These may have left some indication, and there may have been scraps of leather...

I didn't want to hijack Raedwald's exceedingly nice kit thread to pose this question. Let me state this question has no issues with Paul's shield, the repro is very nicely done within the context of the artifacts available. So does anyone besides me have issues with how incomplete the shield looks? ...

Update here on the pauldrons. I thought this might be a good piece to practice a rolled edge for the first time. The back side has a tighter and less consistant profile than the front, shows what a 100% increase in practice from front to rear can do :-) Just where was Mac, Eric, the Jiri boys and Pa...

I've got a gorget and pauldron in the for sale forum. As I've had no response at all, I'd like a little feed back on the pieces. Look like they are headed in the right direction? not worth a crap?
