After an unplaned haitus, I'll be starting up my shield bending again, hoping to be able to fill orders in mid-late June.
All existing orders will either be refunded or finished as per the request of the person that placed them.

Ok, not trying to resurect a long-dead thread (heh, ok so I am!) I almost registered my name when lo and behold I was given a new one right here on the forums! :) What's more Scandie than a given-name. :) Might not have an overly hard time getting it to pass muster...but I am rapidly not really carr...

Many moons ago, when the earth was young. I started off looking at DVA and after some soulsearching and several private mesage-based conversations with very excellent folks here, I passed on it. There are several folks (White Mountain, Ashcraft-Baker, etc) that make gear that is not out of the reach of folks starting out. I haven't gotten v...

I throw my $.02 in on the time issue. To make a 'glassed custom Hoplite would indeed be MUCH longer than doing it out of aircraft alumiunum, just not nearly as cool. Vitus, if I hit the Powerball tomorrow, I just might order one. It's cool to see the pics, btw. :) Nice job on the front fin...

Anvil at harbor Freight
Ok, I know that this cast jobber won't take too much abuse, but would a 55lb anvil be useful? http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=42018 I don't really plan on doing any smith work until I am not in a rental property and have homeowners insurance, but I was wondering if t...

I remember loosing my Elkhound to cancer when I was young. The pup is one of the nicest things that could have been done for your family. Thorbjorn Johannson is good for any Norse persona after Christianity's rise in scandinavia. That gives me a wide range of timeline to choose from. :) Currently, I'm concentrating on around 1066 and 1535-ish. I may find a different name for my early persona, but probably not. :) Besides, E(i)rik Ol(a...

I wrecked my rotator cuff way back in the dim ages of High School wrestling. To add to what Wulf said, the leather is there to hold the plates in place. Let the plates do the job of protecting you, use lighter leather. I've been told that 3-4oz is a good thickness and will help kep the weight down. I plan on using 8-9oz on my splinted vembraces, but that's because I broke my...

If you have a Lowes near by, they have a decent variable-speed jigsaw for around $20 that uses metal-cutting blades quite nicely. It'd go a bit faster and it's the cost of about 5 boxes of the good cutoff wheels. ;) I know the feeling, I've got almost nothing of my kit done. Don't worry about it, yo...

Borrowing an idea from Sit Vitus (with permission), custom shield shapes can be mailed to me cut from cardboard (full-sized). This way you can be sure to get the right shape/size for what you're looking for. Most custom cuts as provided will be an additional $10, bringing the cost of the blank to $30.
