I agree with the previous posters. I bought nearly the entire collection in PDF, a year or two ago. Very nice. Talbot is very easy to work with.

Yep, that's a starter cap alright. Specifically a 243 microfarad cap... I'll go look at Grainger and see what they have in a similar size. Jason [edited to add] Starter cap Another starter cap Either of those should work. Or you can dig around the grainger site and find something more to you're liki...

Jeff, That was what I was thinking. Guess I will have to buy 2 axes then. I wouldn't worry to much about the hafts, but the heads are a goodly investment and wouldn't want to be putting undue wear on them. I just showed the pictures of the axes to our local leadership, and they are impressed and cer...

Jeff or Gwen, In the video's I've seen, I've only noticed axe vs axe combat with these. Have you done any sword vs axe or such? I'm assuming that there might be a bit of an issue with the outer material taking damage from an improperly blocked sword cut. Just trying to get a feel for how I can bring...

@ Jason, re Toby's arms. From Toby: 'They are quite precise reconstructions of the vambraces on Donatello's St George, made for the exterior of Orsanmichele in Florence. It was a commission paid for by the Florence armourers' guild. The original is now in the Museo del Bargello, while a copy has be...

That is indeed a smashing picture of Mr. Capwell. Though, the one thing that stood out to me is his vambraces. I've never seen a set like that. I would so love to see what they are based off.Black Swan Designs wrote: Toby Capwell in his chapter robes. Tournament of the Phoenix, October 2009

And here I was, saying to myself just the other day how I was going to curtail my combat gear purchases. Well, I guess that's out the window. Time to start funneling money aside for some pole axe heads. We'll see if Adria will accept them, and even if not, as has been pointed out. Some friendly non-...

There used to be a guy here on the Armour Archive who went by the handle "MacGowan Metals." He used to sell some pretty decent gauntlets for something like $80. I fight in a pair. They look like this: Shoot him a PM or an e-mail and see if he still sells them. They are the best SCA gaunts I've had....

A/B makes me hurt on the inside. My current project is ripping the face off of their "Sutton Hoo" and replacing it with something slightly better looking, and without a lazy eye. It gave me a happy in pants feeling to take my angle grinder to that faceplate. They have their place... About the first...

R.J. Leahy is a good source for rivets. http://www.rjleahy.com/Store/rivets/index.html But, cutting down roofing nails takes just a few seconds per rivet and you do it while your putting them in. And unless you buy a bunch of different length rivets from you'll be cutting them to fit as well. And I...

I have a slight comment on KtR's otherwise well done comment. Why use Tandy? They seem to be over priced for poor quality product. (when it comes to their leather anyway) Others users may vary, But I've had much more success with Seigel's, Oregon Leather, and a couple of online sites. Other than tha...

Well, what I've worked up as the first test run will be 1.25" squares. Each corner will be cut 3/16" back for the octagonal shape. Dead center should be 5/8" from both sides and will have a 1/8" hole. (possibly 3/16" but see no need for that. Yet.) When I get back to my home state for more than a we...
