Sorry I have responded to the repost before now. the Helms I referred to were in the first segment in a couple of the flashbacks. Just after the 42 minute mark there is a flashback from 1291 when Jerusalem fell. Several Templars are wearing the kettle hats. Were these period for time or later on. Th...

Last Templar helms
I watched the Last Templar on NBC the last couple of nights and wondered about some of the helms being worn. The main one was the kettle helms (chappell der fer -sp). Was it in use during the time that the Templars were in Jerusalem? Was the rest of the armament and clothing accurate? Between wonder...

Is there a possibility both are correct? I am referring to dialects and regional pronunciations. Example, "Richard" in German. I have heard most say "Ree card", but have also heard "Ree shard". Ihave been told that this depends on area one lives in Germany and would hold true to other words as well....

Back pack
I am looking for a design that might have been used to carry fighting gear or necessary items in the form of a backpack whether it was cloth, leather, or a wood material, reed, wicker, split wood strips. etc. If the lower back support was used then like modern internal frame packs have, my back woul...

since you are using this for leather, I would not recommend the bottled Hide Glue. This stuff has chemicals in it to keep it in a liquid state while in the bottle. When it comes out of the bottle, the glue is fairly thick and probably will not soak into the leather easily. Because of the chemicals, ...

I would sugest nickle silver if you can get it for the next one. Losthelm. I don't know if anyone has responded to this or not, but nickel silver or German Silver is a pain to take care of. Just using my knowledge of Romaji spelling for the style as my son pronounces it. I think it is a form of Eishin Ryu Iaido from what i have been reading. I know a couple of Shiitsus with nasty enough tempers that I wouldn't want them to bite As to the gauntlets, he needs something to protect the han...

My son needs "gauntlets" for practice with a boken, to keep from getting his knuckles busted up. He mentioned metal, but is something better or more traditional? Can someone suggest a pattern or steer me toward a previous AA thread.

440 clarification
I would like something clarified about 440 steel. I have seen "440 stainless" and "high carbon 440". are they the same or is there a difference?
Thanks

Along the line of the bubbler, a fine spray of the FC works well. I used to work in a place making clothing heat transfers and they used FC to etch the steel dies. We used plexiglas tanks sealed to be leak proof with metheline chloride, nice stuff. The resist was some tiype of photographic emulsion ...

Vic, I do violin bow rehairing using white hair. It ain't cheap. It can cost up to $400-500 per pound. Mare hair is the cheapest, because it has to be bleached to get out the urine stains. Mongolian is cheaper than Siberian breed hair. The longer it is the more expensive, usually 31" and over the hi...

Weretiger, I haven't read earlier post that might relate to this, but I 'll stab at it. Broken handles
I have a couple of hammers with small handle holes that have had some breakage. The hammers weren't being used real hard but they snapped the handle where it goes through the head. Will boring the hole bigger help this? Or do I find hammers with a bigger handle hoel?

Hi Cat, I did not work with the FC directly but would often help swap out round dies for printing. We made spray tanks that were fairly well sealed except where the motor drive was attached to the side of the tank. The small opening here allowed fumes or mist to get out of the the plexiglas tanks an...
