My thoughts exactly. Didn't see much 'fighting' during the melees, just a lot of grappling and tossing to the ground.

Hey Saritor,

Did you ask if they would custom design stuff? I'm curious if they would be willing to make a gorget kit.

I'm going to jump in here with this. SCA heavy fighting is NOT slashing. Fencing is slashing (and poking). SCA heavy fighting is about force. To be effective, you want to cut through your target, not slash them. With that said, I have tried both and I like a basket for a few reasons. Balancing the w...

Pennsic battles

Howdy everyone. I just wanted to remind everyone that their majesties are determined to start the battles on time. His Majesty Edward of the east stated, and I quote: "I don't care if I'm missing half my army, the canon will go off on time." Pass the word. Make sure you're all on the field on time o...

Two basic mistakes people make when throwing a leg shot:

1: Unless you are seven feet tall, there is no need to bend down when throwing a leg shot.

2: Don't throw the shot straight at the leg. Make a "J" at the very end of the shot. This will practically guarantee the shot will go above the knee.

I'll be the one to step up and say it. I feel this may do more harm than good. I see this possibly alienating some. In today's economy some newer/younger people just won't have the ability to "Period up" their stuff. I feel like this is just validating the period police. As far as I'm concerned, as ...

Easy. At the next melee practice you go to, put on a blind fold, have someone set up a bunch of people in a configuration that has an obvious solution and on command remove the blind fold and see how long it takes you to access the situation and head to the correct place.
