Re: Cross Post: Some works by others, using my laser cut par

On thickness: My original idea was to use 12-11 gauge after grinding and cleaning it up testing led me to think it was too thin or the openings reduced the strength of the part. I decided to go up to 3/16" as it seemed to be more or less unaffected by my extensive rattan based destruction tests cond...

Thanks Ernst! And good eye, the St Justin is exactly the helmet that the grill you showed was originally meant to go on.

Here is a formed and ready to be mounted version of the Byzantine.

Re: For Sale: Laser Cut Grill Parts

Bottom grill is ALMOST sold. I have two interested people in them if both are interested I could get a second run cut for just the extra. Also since there is lots of interest in custom designs either one off or muli-part orders, They would likely run about $4-500 (not installed) If you let me know w...

Throwing a few items out there for sale. The first is made of 3/16" thick Stainless steel, and the other two are made out of 3/16 mild steel. They are all intended to be formed to the helmet and then welded along the open triangular gusset. The second grill was meant to be attached to a helmet with ...

Re: Bader Vs Burr king belt sanders

The primary advantage of the one Burr king I have used is its motor, it has a 3/4hp motor and it is very "torquey", not likely to be stopped short of leaning on it with full body weight. The baderIII that I used was also very good very smooth running was set up for knives and had a very nice platen....

Inspired by this helmet from the MET, and with funding from a great client : http://www.metmuseum.org/Collections/search-the-collections/40000170#fullscreen I built this. Re: Best looking grill for a helmet

I do think Ugo improved enormously on simply filed cleaned up grill work in his version and took ...

I'm not certain that people would buy a helmet which they had seen the EXACT same copy of 1000 times on the field. T I sort of agree. Too much of any one thing gets tedious. Helmet Metallurgy: what is important in a helmet

Lets assume a helmet that will see both rattan and rebated steel combat in its life, and that it should have a nice long life. What are some good target numbers for a resilient, non-cracking, non-denting helm? When I say numbers, I am thinking less about thickness more about rockwell hardness, tensi...
