Lots of people wear them.
it is no big deal, and they look great.
My hauberk's skirts sometimes sucks the power out of leg shots,

Your tool sounds like it is designed to set wedge rivets.
You need a hole in each face for it to work with round wire.
Try annealing the rivets too. They will be easier to squish.
