hello folks not posted for a long time,been so busy.
these are a pair of gaunts i just delivered to bosworth battle field visitor centre,along with some other stuff :D
made from 16g mild,making them some clamshell gaunts as well now :)

yep had thought of putting loops all around the base as you said mate.
just not had time, had to fire up the big furnace and do some cast machine parts for a mate this afternoon so i will get onto it again tomorrow, thanks for all the suggestions :D

good idea about the "mousehole" i will get round to that this weekend,got some aluminium brackets to cast using the big furnace for a mate first :D

i dont get any smoke from charcoal i use a little bit of acetone to start it going and have the blower on very low plenty of oxygen = no smoke. i do the same for my big metal melting furnace and i can have it up and running in about 5 mins this way. i have found if you try and light it in the usual ...

its charcoal fired mate the pipe you see is for the blower feed. yes made it all i have a couple of big sheets of 10 gauge i was given. and the fire bricks came from a big pottery kiln at work that i had to dismantle, as we have a new one now i got all the bricks for free. :D so it on cost a couple ...

hello fellow metal bashers here is my new portable forge.
took a couple of days to make,its made from 10 gauge mild.
the worst part was cutting all the sheet with an 8 inch angle grinder :?
sorta made it up as i went along :D
test fired it today it gets bloody hot :D

i tried many different things for the resist,i settled on car spray paint and wax for the large areas in seperate layers. all the patterns were done freehand with an etch resist pen,and it drove me mad it was so fiddly to do :? i found that using the salt water and battery charger that it kept blowi...

hello folks hope everyone is well.
here is a couple of demi shaffrons i have just finished.
both are 18g mild steel,one is for a customer the other is for stock.
did some etching i think it came out ok :D

its not your weld that has failed mate its the sheet steel that has been bent repeatedly back and forth causing the metal to shear :sad: and it broke at that position because it is a stress raiser the transition from the brim shape to the scull is too sharp, it would not shear so much from being str...
