Re: Otto's Armoury Backorder List

2480 days since payment confirmation, or 6 years, 9 months, 15 days.

I have long ago chalked it up to a very bad first experience trying to buy armour. But 7 years later I am looking at picking up a stick again :)

I know I run the risk of starting or continuing an onslaught of information requests.

BUT....

You still have my order information and maybe possibly a guess as to how far down the queue I am?
Not a delivery date or anything, just an idea of how many orders ahead of me...

Best thing I have found so far on this is a picture of all the parts of the armour, here This is the first place I found the armpit protection as well. Also clearly shows the separate "codpiece" trapezoidal plate. Other web based source I have found states that trapezoid is a solid plate as opposed ...

If you think cross country shipping sucks try shipping into Canada

Thanks for the advice. I think when i get to that point I will be using upholstry tacks, knock out the tack, punch and use real rivets.

Upholstery tacks are a convenient resource for decorative washers. Pull off the shank, flatten & punch a hole. Very pretty, very cheap. Now that sounds like a plan. The revival washers look pretty enough but for approximately 50 cents a pop way too much for a full brig, imo. Especially considering ...

Upholstry tack rivets?

Anybody try it? is the shank to skinny or just not peen? Any other issues? I am in the process of making a gambeson and will be cutting material in the next couple days, then comes a brigandine. Was planning on using roofing nails for the rivets on the brig but then got to thinking of brass roofing ...

jazerant ???

Came across a new term today and I am curious what it means.

just started looking into it and so far it sounds identical to brigandine, but I know that can't be the case because the book HERE talks about it in addition to Brig.

So what am I reading about here?

Ooops, page 58 of that book.

I have both but have only fought with a split headed polearm so far. My thoughts so far (very inexperienced) Split head is lighter, faster and has a more familiar sounding and feeling hit with it. I've honestly never seen such depth in any picture of armour before. Ever. Not hard to do actually. That pic looks like one light far off to the right, pretty much perpendicular to the picture. That light brings out texture. The other light is likely approximately 45 degrees off to the left, that l...

The Kitchener, Ontario bus terminal has a few bike lockers like that. Drove by them a few times and recognized what it was, but that is the extent of my knowledge of them.

Yes I have read that thread several times. Still mostly comments on the armor armstreet made and not much on the history of the style of armour. The qianlong emporer armour seems to place it in the mid 1700s. The Yuan dynasty armour linked to by Ogedei is from late 13th century (1400s?). Now I am no...

I really like the long almost skirt like flowing lines of the armour. I am figuring a persona around the armour, not the other way around.
