Yeah, I tend to get one tournament out of a set of plumes.

I often wear a feather plume on my burg, and most folks seem to think it looks pretty cool.

I'll be there Wednesday evening. I'll be easy to find on the field - purple doublet and a burgeonet. Look me up for a dance!

Can you provide inside measurements (front to back, side to side, and from top of ocular to base of bar grill)? Can you give more detail about the aventail? Is it butted, riveted, or welded, and what material?
Thanks!

Positive review of Bokalo
A couple of months ago i asked Bokalo about the differences between his cat's ass gauntlets and the next generation gauntlets on his website. We went back and forth for a while, and he mentioned that he was working on a new thing - a half-fingered Milanese set - and wanted to know if I was intereste...

Re: Looking for Quotes on a Burgonet (w/ SCA Bar Grill) & Go
Mattmaus did my current hat, the first one was from Patrick Thaden - expect to spend a grand or so for one worth owning, more if you want stainless or spring steel. Mine is in mild steel, which I had nickel plated to keep the rust away...'cause I am lazy. Much agreement on the need to allow for the ...

Nino - I've added a couple more shots to the photobucket linked in the initial posting. As Iain said, Sasuke has awe inspiring customer service. He contacted me when I bought these to make sure I knew about his willingness to repair whatever might go wrong with them. Nothing ever did, though. ;-) Hans

Checking Interest...Gothic Finger Gauntlets by Oaks Armoury
Hey guys - I have a set of Sasuke's Gothic finger gauntlets that I very rarely use, and thought I might put them up for sale here. Any interest in such a thing? If folks are interested, I will take some pictures, figure out what they might be worth, and post them. If there isn't any interest I won't...

Re: Why you should buy from Mattmaus...a review
Lets be clear here...Matt did a hell of a job taking the pics I sent him and some vague, hand-waving kinds of "well, I'm not happy about this part of my Thaden" comments and turned out an outstanding helm.
Matt - you have done superb work, let us praise you for it!

Re: Why you should buy from Mattmaus...a review
As bummed as I am that Thaden shut down, I think the Matt has been able to build nicely from where Patrick left off. :D He is already building a stronger helm...my Thaden had a 14g skull, the new one is 12g...and now that Matt has begun to play with stainless, the sky is the limit to where he can ta...

Re: Why you should buy from Mattmaus...a review
I love my nickle plating - cuts maintenance time to almost nothing. A couple of things I learned with the Thaden burg...I had to have the brim welded back on a couple of times where it separated from the skull. This was finally solved when Patrick built a new brim which incorporated a vertical reinf...

Irish - I spent $100 on the plating, plus about an hour explaining just what the hell we do to the guys at the shop. Probably be less outside the SF bay area.

Why you should buy from Mattmaus...a review
So I bought a helm from Matt, and I am thrilled with both what I got and how I got it...which is a bit of a story, so pull up a pew. Some of you may recall a year or so back Matt said that he had just picked up a few sets of 12g helm halves from Cet and was looking for suggestions on what they shoul...

Re: Sword and dagger in SCA heavy
I fight sword & dagger quite a bit - it is actually my favorite style (although not the one with which I am most effective - go figure). Sword in my right (dominant) hand, dagger point up in my left. A couple of things to think about: 1. the more you can threaten an opponent without actually committ...
