So. Hey. Yeah, there was a Hastings Battle. Sorry.... my life has been a bit of a shambles, and I wasn't going to run it, but was convinced kinda last minute.
We had about 10 people show up, had alot of fun, and played with a few rules changes that we liked.

Well, I care. I take great pains to fight with weapons appropriate to my persona, and am glad he is trying to do the same.

*shrug
Don't hit with it seems to sum it up nicely. Kingdoms do have the right to be MORE strict than Society rules... that's why I mentioned the KEM.

Re: Spear and Shield Combat Interest
A fair degree of contact does not equal purposely striking with the haft. "safely placed against the opponent’s body" is not cross checking. You can do it to their shield or weapon.... not their person. Might want to discuss and clarify with your Kingdom Earl Marshal. Regarding striking your opponen...

Re: Spear and Shield Combat Interest
You can strike someone with the haft, it just doesn't "count" as a telling blow. Think about how many times pole arm fighters cross check people or hit with the haft just below the head. On purpose? If you're tired of having a qual card, sure... "III B 10. Deliberately striking an opponent’s head, ...

I would have that clarified up the chain of command. There have not been problems with them on rattan that I know of. AFAIK the two inch tip is still ok on rattan so you aren't completely out your money yet, It is a pretty big bummer that a tip you just bought failed inspection and they wouldn't tak...

The battle was originally an excuse to show off maille... I think you convey the feeling of the thing.
I could probably bring a borrowed spangen for you, if it would make you feel better...
