Re: Gulf Wars XX Photos

Those are excellent photos of the unbelt practice! (and everything else of course, I am just a little biased.) Thank you very much!

I'm a poor college student, I find ways to make it work. Not enough money for Pennsic this year? See if anyone wants to pay to have their camp set up for them. Ask around until you are blue in the face to find people that are upgrading their gear and want to get rid of the old stuff. There are ways ...

On the same subject, one of these days when I go deer hunting again I want to dress the animal and prepare the meat in ceremonial fashion used in period. Anyone hear of that being done?

I agree with the idea that there are no stupid questions. However, I believe there are questions that are asked with the intention of sounding stupid (i.e. questions with the purpose to make fun of something) Being a high school student I got asked PLENTY of those when I wore my armor to school. "Ho...

Judging by your description mine is vegetable tanned and has generally taken dye very well. However, this brings me to another, very similar problem. The leather I am using for the CoP spent much of its time next to a window where it basked in the sun all day long. I am starting to think this had an...

Scratched leather and dying

Hi there, I've been working on my first set of armor and right now the problem is my CoP. It is made out of 8 oz leather and except for some strapping I still have to do it is finished. The problem is that the leather has some scratches in it from rubbing against some of my other armor. I have tried...

Trouble with Cuisse fitting

Okay, I have been looking around the web to answer these questions but I just can't find the answers to the questions I have. So here are my two main problems: 1: How far should it go around my thigh? Right now it looks like I want to have one side stop at the inside seam of my pants. I am not sure ...

It's people like you (you know, you big kids) that keep people like me (the smaller kids :D 16 *cough*) showing up at fighter practice and events. When I first started I was SOO excited, but the only part I was worried about was that all the older guys would treat me like some immature annoying kid....

First armoring project

Well it's my spring break this week and while most of my classmates will be going to Florida, I will be staying behind and making some armor :P I will be making splinted leather cuisses and vambraces. Along with a Wisby coat of plates. This will be my first attempt at armoring but I am pretty confid...

Wow, thank you all very much for the feed back. Yes, I realized that my "bounty hunter" idea was pretty much fantasy for the SCA. It was mainly one of those "Wouldn't it be cool if..." kinda things. I decided to not really worry about specifics too much and just stick with "German guy thats kills th...

Well yes I did think it would be "cool" I wouldn't have looked into otherwise hehe :P I have tried to do lots of research on it but the only thing I could find was that bounty hunting started in England in the 13th century. But oh well, I had a feeling this idea of mine didn't have a lot of truth to...

German Bounty Hunter

Greetings to all, My persona in the SCA is a German bounty hunter from late 13th to early 14th centuries. I have some questions that I was wondering if any of you know the answer to...so here it goes. 1) Were there actually "bounty hunters" during this time period? 2) If so did they do the same type...
