Re: Armorers that work in titanium?

I work pretty much only titanium but I am mostly retired these days.
I make a piece or two every now and then but lately not in any timely manner.
everything I make is custom and I do not carry any instock work.
am in Wa state.

Re: Who is making bazubands these days?

hi there I use this pattern for the back of the bazubands. almost impossible to work the harder Ti alloys into the complex curve needed. the soft stuff is no problem but I stopped using the nondurable Ti 20 years ago. https://get.google.com/albumarchive/101582679491476465697/album/AF1QipOBgOQtXA8eZM...

some fighters do not like any sort of binding in their cup hilts.

that means if the hilt touches their hand it is "binding"

others like them tight.

you have some limitations to overcome if you want to fight competitively. if you just want to have fun you can approach 1/2 your weight but it will slow down your skill progression and while fun tire you out much quicker. you will need an accurate scale to find your taw(total armour weight) bruising...

titanium is 40 percent heavier than aluminum and needs to be at least 18ga to hold it s shape and not warp. without any kind of work hardening it is floppy when too long. I reinforced the edged of my 2 titanium shields with .010 Ti and decided they were not light enough 9lbs+ at 22" by 33". my subse...

titanium: no maintenance, no dents, no rust.

what is not to be liked if you fight all the time and do not have a bunch of servants to maintain your armour?

edit: forgot equivalent gauge of metal is 40 percent lighter than stainless ;)

Re: Grip trouble with my gauntlets.

because of the angle of the hand if your gauntlet does not follow this angle your pinky will not be able to fully close.
you can solve the problem by letting the pinky finger float free. and not be sewn down to the gauntlet.

16ga Ti knuckle bar.
18ga Ti for the rest.
lightest pair of finger gaunts I ever made had different gauges and weighed 5/8ths of a pound.
they were not very protective.

that is the right thinking.
never ever ever ever cash the check or use the money until the customer says he is satisfied.
will keep you out of trouble finance wise.
do not be afraid to stop taking orders if you get to many orders due to low prices.
put them on a wait list instead.
good luck

Re: Score! (or; what do you think of these ovens?)

wow you are lucky.
I have to use a phase converter and they are expensive.
my current setup just blew up so I cant use my 7 1/2hp buffer or either of my 5hp grinders because they are 3 phase.
this is the second phase converter in 22 years so they are pretty reliable.
