Re: Chest Protection for nursing mom
That seems like a good idea, since you are going to want something fast and temporary. Or any kind of extra padding that you can fit under, (or over as a temporary expedient). Breast leakage shields are an absolute necessity. Let down in the middle of combat can be - interesting. Just avoid hard edg...

The Girls Club is currently back at http://www.createforum.com/thegirlsclub/viewforum.php?f=8&mforum=thegirlsclub It's kind of dead right now due to a not-really-successful move, but there is a lot of good info there anyway, and a few of us will read it if you post something, though - yeah - maybe n...

Re: Back injury and fighting question.
I fought 3 or 4 years back with a pinched nerve, C7. Dunno how similar. I was able to fight okay. I took a lot of painkillers. There was one day, after the angle of a blow exacerbated it, that I was truly, truly miserable to the point of non-functioning. But mostly it was sort of okay, and mostly th...

No haybales were involved. Just your random scruffy field that was not entirely flat. Oh, and a bunch of Atlantians bent on mayhem.

I haven't looked at it closely. Essentially, I believe, it is cutting away a hole so that you can insert your hand under like a bowl. Not sure when I'll see him again, but you might look at it in that context and see something feasible-looking.

Re: Heater shield annoyance
You're going to want good hand protection - probably some type of basket- if you use a metal door handle. Otherwise you are just sitting your tender fingers on an anvil waiting to be hit. But you can modify a plastic balder hilt to sit as a basket, or make a leather or plastic flap/box type thing.

Re: Heater shield annoyance
Look at how the one you like is done. And you might consider not using a metal basket. It throws any balance there is right off. As with most things, people find solutions in lots of different directions, but I think the most promising thing is to try to copy the one you tried and liked.

Re: 2013 Fighting Resolutions
Last year went pretty well, and somewhere was gotten with all of my resolutions. If I can fight as much and get to as many things this year, I'll be happy. Aside from keepin' on: (1) I'm going to work at regularly breaking out of the pools or into the "out-of-the-pack" rounds of tournaments. (2) I'm...

Don't get too frustrated with the stuff you know should happen, and you can't make happen. It'll come. My knight says it takes a solid month's practicing for each year you were gone before you start to feel like your feet are under you again. Do the rotator cuff and tennis elbow exercises before you...

Having a husband who's fought a lot in both old butted mail and new flat link rivetted mail - There are far fewer waffle bruises with the flat links. Just that tiny geometry difference seems to make quite a difference.

Have you tried swinging some of those cast iron frying pans? There's some strength training! I fight because I'm a grown-up and nobody's going on about how I'll shoot my eye out anymore.

You say: You (a girl) have the same muscles that I have, you can build muscle but it takes a little longer. SO, if girl(X) and boy(Y) both train with the same program(BEST), you're saying X will lag Y by some muscle degree. But X wants to be the best. How do you suggest she beat Y? I'm saying she ne...

You (a girl) have the same muscles that I have, you can build muscle but it takes a little longer. Ergo, it might be a good idea to go about it in a purposeful fashion. Ya think? That's really all we're getting at here. Training like a girl might mean training more and better, not wrapping your swo...

Saying, "Go away, you can't get in armour and fight until you can bench your bodyweight, (or whatever).", would be belittling. Saying, "You're tagging people a lot but there's not a lot there. If you work on this, it should go a long way toward fixing that." isn't belittling. I think one issue here ...

Having been invoked after a fashion, LOL... Yeah, basically anybody can hit hard enough- in an ideal situation. And one can go a long way toward creating an ideal situation with technique. BUT - if one's opponent is both stronger and knows what they are doing - it becomes a lot easier for them to ge...

1) Be disciplined with the background work on fitness/strength. Better. Still not good enough. Wish the nearby gym hadn't gone under and been replaced by a far pricier crossfit only thing. I do something everyday now pretty well, but it goes to hell when I get sick or overwhelmed with something. 2) ...

Time Sanctified by Wieck is pretty good. Lots of pictures and texts, discussions of which elements are most appropriate to a given time and place. Still not cheap, but cheaper, and a pretty solid value.

Plenty of Bayeaux goodness on the web. Here's one:
http://rubens.anu.edu.au/htdocs/bytype/textiles/bayeux/
Looking at the pictures, one can see plenty of legwrap type things, though all with the hosen tight sillouette, so not so easy to do over armour as the baggy pants/leg wrap thing.

Even for some kind of demo for the press - I dunno, but leaving your gorget off and your neck wide open just kind of sticks out like a sore thumb as an accident waiting to happen.

I was thinking greaves, since I would expect you to need more of a lead time on them than the gorget, but whatever is the current sticking point is really fine. Show me pics when you have something shiny!
