I am 5'4" and a lefty. I weigh a bit more (about 160 now) but when I first started fighting I was about 135. So I encounter a lot of the problems she is facing. The best thing you can do is to instill in her some non-fighting attitude. For example -- when I die, I make it memorable. I don't just fal...

For one of his Crown Lists, Duke Maximillian decreed that combatants raise their hand and extend a piece of rope from their fingertips to the ground. This length of rope had to "go around" the outer edge of the shield. This turned out to be a fair way to limit shield size without overly penalizing ...

I understand and appreciate and believe in this concept, but it is hard to get my heart to buy into it. The reason is, I think, that it is hard to don your helm and know you are not going to win before you even get your chin strap buckled. For me, this is a confidence-crushing problem that can beco...

Over all it sounds like a good A&S project for you to take-on and to submit to a competition. And when you get to a conclusion, you can inform us here. except I totally suck at research! I have an uncanny act of finding contrary information to anything I find, leaving me walking in circles! So far,...

I actually wonder now if some people throw strong enough to pop bubble wrap. Really. This might be a fun test. -Aaron popping bubble wrap requires more speed than force. Take some bubble wrap and slowly push it down hard. It stretches, but doesn't always pop. Now just squeeze it real fast. just say...

When this necro-thread originally started in 2001, it was started by a few Meridians that wanted to see a tournament company in our lands. There once was a tourney company - The Company of St Olaf. I was a member errant, as my persona and armour didn't fit into the timeline yet. But somewhere there ...

Can anyone tell me what "version" of the christian cross was predominantly used throughout England in the mid 14th century? I have looked and looked and can't find anything definitive, but my searching is limited to breaktime at work. Please help! thanks, Aidan May I ask if you intend to wear the c...

This is some serious thread Necromancy. So... did this take off? It did for a little while, then it slowly slipped away again. I think now the time is ripe for it, as the "fun" of counted blows is realized by more and more people. But then what do I know, I have been to 2 events in 2 years! Hopeful...

Worn by people as jewelry or adornment, if it even was used like that in this time. Not necessarily clergy, but population. I know that through time, the "popular form" of the cross changed somewhat. Probably more specifically by region that timeline I would think. I want to cast myself and my wife ...

Chew gum. There's a reason damn near every wrestler does it.. This actually does work. I have the "holding breath" problem, and gum helped a lot. you just need to remember, if you chew gum, stop chewing if a shot is coming in. If it rings your head real good, your auto reaction will be to clamp you...

http://forums.armourarchive.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=11100 Not a new idea. There were a small handful of us down here in Meridies that wanted this. One option to discuss here is having a "backstrap", or buckled down strap across the back of the gauntlet, on the sword or not? I found these to be helpful in allowing me to keep my grip loose on the sword, and was/is my trigger solution for a cross hilted sword. I'm not sure I gave it enough of a ...

I found it a much easier task to relieve myself after switching to a pourpoint to suspend my leg harness. Sometimes what feels like you are gasping is just not being familiar with your body at peak. That is what I suspect is the biggest problem. yeah that sounds pretty stupid, but its true. I was a premmie baby with under-developed lungs, and have struggled with lung problems my entire life.
