"Is this the proverbial slip or merely a typo? " Well actually it was an editing problem. Was suppoed to be crowd. I had written something like "folks in weight belts nikes and a crown" originally. It's sad that a Barony would not host a fiore seminar. The study of medieval combat and the SCA won't ...

Owen i really don't want to tighten the time period all that much. Maybe fall of Rome to 1650. I get real tiered of all the 1st century "celts" and 18th century fencers in a medieval organization. I don't ,mind mixed periods all that much as a concept. I'm also sure we'll never get folks in general ...

Ok now we have the same thing posted again. "Its like this: Is plastic period? Hell No Does it breath? Hell No Does it look more authentic if its black instead of green, white or blue? Hell No But you know what? I don't really give a damn if its authentic or not." And there ya have it folks. Because...

ok i just typed for 20 min to have it not post so here's the quick version. We're gonna have authenticity officers like Regia. Rhys made the other point. Is it reasonably believeable that the guy would have had it. The weirder it is the more you'll have to document it. For a name, i like "The Black ...

period helmet liners
Anyone have any good pictuers of the inside of some period helmet liners?
I have Price's bible, so i have a few.
I really want to know what my attachement options are for things like suspension liners.

I was mearly reversing what Anon said. It's apparently fine that they want "us" to leave, but if anyone suggest that they might in fact be doing anything thats inappropriate then we're supposed to take our toys and go home. yet another double standard in the SCA. If the Elves were still here i'd ven...

"Remember folks, this is a game....If your game has to have no plastic, there are any number of splinter groups that agree with you for you to play with." Thats always the final argument, after the cost issue, the weight issue, the durability issue are all blow away, then we get the tiered old. "It'...

I've alwasy thought of that. I have shirts that are 10 years old. I have a gun thats 30 years old. We have military equipment (the M-2 the p38 can opener, the Gi pot helm ) that was used for decades in our era. So a 10-15 year span isn't bizzare imo. I was thinking our group would be English and All...

Thats a good start Rhys, looks alot like the "14th Century complete outfit" from HE. And believe it or not i don't work for them, as much as i've been pushing them it kinda sounds that way. I'd also ad that you'd probably wanna get a bed roll and some wool blankets to sleep on/in. As for cooking whe...

Oh here's what i'm seeing as a basic militatry kit. From the depictions i see nearly everyone has on a helm, mostly Bascinets, i think i'm seeing few kettle hats. Bascinets seem to often have no visor or avential for the infantry. Some kinda padded body armour, like a jack, guantlets, also see lots o...

As far as i can tell they didn't have uniforms like we think of them now. If you were retained to a knight or some other Noble you might wear his livery. Work on getting your clothes first. Looking at Le Bell and Red Co they seem to be in clothes and military gear. We'll start out with Red Co 1st ye...

I agrre, we have to have a mix of portrayals. As other groups do it i believ;, no horsey, no knighty. I'm gonn definately start out with a billman. He may just end up as a heavily armoured billman I was thinking we'd have maybe 3 "knights" assuming 25 soldiers total. Maybe a couple other mounted guy...

Yeah that was at Hastings 2000 and lots of people i've talked to that went thought that the suggestion and allowence of plastic was rediculous. Some of the REgia folks were livid.
