I have 2 holes in each knee pointed to the suade, and a strap behind the knee. The suade flexes and the stra holds the knee in pla...

"Why can't we have both 1) zealously historical events and ..." Because afaik you have to be a sanctioned SCA chapter (shire barony ectect) to hold an event. These groups have little to no incentive to hold a strict historical event, because they would not make as much money as they will by haveing ...

"These are folks who just plain will not use anything heavier. " And that i just don't get. Minor rant here... I'll say arming coat too.

I live in Alabama and i fight in one of the 3 my wife made year round.

The only sports padding i have on are some light wrestlers gell knees, no need for anyting more. Mundane padding adds bulk and holds in heat, a linnen or cotton arming coat is vastly superior.

I don't dislike CA either. I just hated standing there for an hour. I think i've been killed by a CA or SE maybe twice. So it doesn't really bother me.

As for the volley fire, for some reason the invulnerabel shields slipped my mind.

"You ignore the fact that a lot of folks who might otherwise be interested are probably driven away by the inauthentic elements of the SCA" This gets said far too rarely. Unless you heat gun the hell out of it it's not going to have the correct lines for a corrizina no matter what.

I've seen both ABS and kydex shatter like glass.

Steel or even aluminum would pobably be easier to work, as well as not be plastic.

I made one.

I used suade with 2 inch long 1 inch wide plates along the kidneys and ribs. Uses 1 inch steel disks in the uppe body to save weight.

Based it off a burgundian doublet pattern.

Caleb from St Olaf wears it.

Some places need active marshalling. We have it here in Meridies. I've seen it used maybe one time in 7 years. Honorable fighters have nothing to fear. Thre marshall on the field has to have teeth. Why does no one change the rules? They do, they just don't make the changes we here at the AA would. [...

I'd pick the SCA with traing from Bob Charron added in. Biggest pool, biggest diversity of conditions. Playing tag in red t shirts is no substitute for actually hitting people in armour. If complaints were already made he may have already dealt with it. He'll treat ya right.

DO NOT hunt the bad guy down. That just gets you in trouble too. Your buddies honor is intact let the marshalate deal with it.
