"I'm a former 2 time Golden Glove qualifier as a heavyweight...." COOL! Once again proving the validity of western boxing as a legitimate martial art!!!! As for the two sword story, i'd accept it as documentation for guys fighting with weapons like that 18-20 inches. To me that sounds believable, ba...

It is often used interchangeably with sport fighter. In that case it refers to someone who cares only about winning fights. Not about history, or honor, or chivalry. They care about beating other people and thats it. Often the bad version of stickjock(ie sport fighter) views authenticity as a hinder...

Who is more valid? You gotta be kidding me? We are literally comparing a plastic generi viking to a walking library of info and accuracy. How is there any question? This is a fundamental problem in the SCA that a guy that has little "incleation" to do anything real, is given as much validity as some...

Rhys has a good point, Much of whats in the books is unuseable in SCA combat. Either because of the one shot kill system, or because it's illegal in SCA combat. SCA guantlets are often huge and bulky, that also hapers alot of techniques. Fun to read, and good to know, pick what you can use. I'll ref...

While Asain manuals are valuable resources, i think European manuals are better suited to the study of European combat. While we have a combat format for the Pas, we did not have a theme.

Since it's so close to his feast day, The "Tourney of St. Patrick".

AFAIK there is no gague or thickness requirment for a piece of armour that is not required. IE pauldrons are not required so you can make them out of 22 ga if you like.

I think the only gague requirments are for helmets.
