What abpout the very word Chivalry?

Derived from French meaning "what horsemen do"

I also think that it's the same root entamology (words not bugs) as Cavalry.

"it seems to be a great advantage to be more mobile than your more encumbured boss in plate armour" Yes in little to no armour you'd be real mobile, until you were hit once fairly well, then you'd be dead. You plate wearing boss was a walking tank,he's virtually indestructible, and trained in say Fi...

To me they should have to be acceptable to the current crown. There needs to be some kinda shmuck clause though, not sure how to enforce that. IMO the king should be able to set up darn near any kind of lists he chooses. If i won and i want to have an arm wrestling match then it should be up to me. ...

I tend to agree with Kyle and Ulric. I think knights/ royal peers should be expected to fight. Not only at events but at practice. You learn very little in facing newbies and the guys you came up with. I though teaching was one of the responsibilities of the peers. How can they teach if they are not...

Breast plates look better, but you don't really need one for reasons Joaquin stated.

What little i have left to add is for all the Jui-Jitsuka on the thread, remember for every move there is a counter, for every counter there is a reversal, for every reversal there is a move. Need format ideas

I want to do something big and grand for the pas at Gulf Wars (Friday 9:00 am) BUT I need format ideas. I had one, it ended up being too complicated and kinda morbid to do for our pas (Friday 9:00 am). Looking for formats again now for our Pas (friday 9:00 am). St O has done a Hastlitude (sp?) at Bo...

We basically do it any way, you just push against their shield and/ hook their sword.
It's safe and no contact to the body.

No, as far as i can tell Rotts were built for eating a lot and sleeping on the couch.

They're also good at scaring delivery guys and, giving the room a unique fragrance (likely due to the afore mentioned eating).

A knight should have a basic knowledge of horses and cavalry. Not necessarily be a rider (horses ain't cheap) but know at least a certain basic amount about the joust. It goes along with havnig a basic knowledge of the period, espically the period of the person's persona. Accolade or not there are a...

I'd add that your sword sounds a little on the short side. You'll decrease your reach disparity with a longer stick.

Also tall people have long legs, leg than and take away their mobility advantage, even more negating their reach.

The same argument could be applied to any rules revision. The adding of hand protection requierments not so long ago, to the massive over haul of combat archery. That argument basically comes down to "we alway done it this way". We should try to add in new things, if they can be done safely, espical...
