I am so looking forward to seeing this thing when it's done and making use of it. Pics and review will be posted once the project is complete. I should be able to make some good headway here this weekend, Victor! It's a priority for me to get this out. Glad that the buckle is to your liking... Look...

I want to spiff up the handle a bit and I've seen some with a butt plate. Anybody has an idea about how these were atached since the handle is a full tang with scales? Yup... this should give you a clue... http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c321/AaronSchnatterly/Personal%20Projects/Edged/Utility/137...

I've decided to halt this, with the following offer... Victor gets his purse, and I'm going to get going on it ASAP - like now - 'cause I want to get it out to him, and the weather looks PERFECT for indoor work this weekend. I'll offer similar for $100 through the end of the month, should anyone be ...

This won't be a tremendous amount of help... I'm figuring it out as well, and, while I can do some of this, putting what's happening in words isn't as easy. Note, too, that I could be totally off-base. The reason that different hammers meant for different applications are shaped the way they are is ...

Dan has done an awesome job! Now the sword looks closer probably to the original, as the sword it copies in the Wallace has two little holes in the bottom of the escutcheons, and 99.9% certain it bore the owners arms in enamelwork. I'll pass this on to Dan. I'm sure he'll appreciate it! You have to...

Well... it's been a little while since the last update on this project. I had to turn the reins over to Dan for him to get some other work done for us. Early in the discussions I had with Chef regarding this project, it was clear to me that this sword has been his personal and preferred piece for a ...

I will never forget seeing so many green clouds.... I didnt get scared till I saw the monkeys with wings. No joke. Katrina introduced me to just how awesome good ol' Mother Nature can be. If it wasn't so serious and so deadly, I'd say it would make the best Disney World ride EVER. Freaking amazing....

Thanks, man! (And I expect pics when yours is finished!) Some clarification on the purse in the pictures: It's dyed mahogany, so it has a nice deep brown-red color to it. It's not quite as dark as it appears in the pic, but close. I probably should have mentioned that as reference... I can do a seri...

How big do you want it? How often would you use it? How sturdy does it need to be? Do you have the tools and materials to make it? Do you need more than one size? Could you make the money to purchase faster by making something to sell than you'd put in making them? It'd potentially be an extremely s...

Also, a good line drawing can show more details than a grainy photo. In the instances where I have both available, and the clearer the pic the better, obviously... those situations I really like. I know that often, I wish there was some detail I wanted to pick out of a pic, or some perspective that...

What a gorgeous lid. Be proud to wear it, and make the rest of the kit up to that standard. ... and therein lies the issue with having cool stuff... it all has to be cool, or the not-cool stands out as much as the cool stuff does. So this is the project Hal was working on with the fluted helm skull...

Now for a scabbard. What should it look like? Typical knife sheaths of the mid 13th into at least the 16th were leather over leather cores. The knife you made is similar in form to a number of ones found in London excavations and dredges. If this were my project to do, I'd shoot for a sheath that c...

Aaron the butt cap is actually a piece of 12g mild steel scrap. Yes its has an apple seed cross section, I think smoothing out pieces of armour lends to that cross section easier than any other. I actually wanted to do a wooden handle but didn't have anything laying around, I did though still have ...

Are you in the US? If you can't find anyone close to you, and could get them to me relatively quickly, I could do them. Matt- You will have to secure the fingers, the palm, and the wrist. You can also hit the cuff, but not necessary, unless SCA regs dictate. Here's a pic of my gaunts (taken from Jiri's site, since it's so clear) - and then some commentary on what works with them and why. http://www.luciferarmoury.com...

Sorry, Cat... checked my stash at home - too thin, and not enough - and checked all the possibles here at the shop. Might be able to find some wire at the hardware store here, but it's a small-town deal, so it's kind of random what'll be there or not. All of the brass rod I have here is 1/8 inch, wh...
