I am so looking forward to seeing this thing when it's done and making use of it. Pics and review will be posted once the project is complete. I should be able to make some good headway here this weekend, Victor! It's a priority for me to get this out. Glad that the buckle is to your liking... Look...

I want to spiff up the handle a bit and I've seen some with a butt plate. Anybody has an idea about how these were atached since the handle is a full tang with scales? I've decided to halt this, with the following offer... Victor gets his purse, and I'm going to get going on it ASAP - like now - 'cause I want to get it out to him, and the weather looks PERFECT for indoor work this weekend. I'll offer similar for $100 through the end of the month, should anyone be ...

I don't know what the difference is between dyes, but, at least in the Fiebings line, the white dye is totally incompatible with any other color. The stuff is like watered down whiteout, and it comes in a glass bottle.

This won't be a tremendous amount of help... I'm figuring it out as well, and, while I can do some of this, putting what's happening in words isn't as easy. Note, too, that I could be totally off-base. The reason that different hammers meant for different applications are shaped the way they are is ...

Dan has done an awesome job! Now the sword looks closer probably to the original, as the sword it copies in the Wallace has two little holes in the bottom of the escutcheons, and 99.9% certain it bore the owners arms in enamelwork. I'll pass this on to Dan. I'm sure he'll appreciate it! You have to...

Now for a scabbard. What should it look like? Typical knife sheaths of the mid 13th into at least the 16th were leather over leather cores. The knife you made is similar in form to a number of ones found in London excavations and dredges. If this were my project to do, I'd shoot for a sheath that c...

Aaron based of the drawing you posted m the butt cap is attatched via a peined tank extension. Actually probably to big of a tang extension as I ground down the extension to about 7/16" diam, and wound up having to use the torch to pien it down decent. As I had allready attached the horn scale...

Aaron the butt cap is actually a piece of 12g mild steel scrap. Yes its has an apple seed cross section, I think smoothing out pieces of armour lends to that cross section easier than any other. There may be other ways that work equally well, but for me, I'll be re-gloving my practice/sparring gaunts the same way, 'cause it's just so secure. The fingers just have to stay in place.

Matt- You will have to secure the fingers, the palm, and the wrist. You can also hit the cuff, but not necessary, unless SCA regs dictate. Here's a pic of my gaunts (taken from Jiri's site, since it's so clear) - and then some commentary on what works with them and why. http://www.luciferarmoury.com...
