The second piece is also a 1/4 carat diamond, set in a classic, simple 14k yellow gold setting. This piece also sold for over $200 seven years ago, I'll let this go for $80 shipped. I may ship international, depending on cost. Again my apologies for picture quality, the camera does not do it justice.

FS: Diamond and Garnet necklaces
She just keeps finding stuff in boxes that I didn't even know we had. This time it is 3 necklaces, 2 are diamonds, and one is a garnet. I am going to post them all in this thread one at a time so bear with me. FYI none of them come with a chain, it is just the pendant by itself. First up, a 1/4 cara...

I like Sir Corby's article on hanging a shield, simple and very effective. As for handle placement, it depends on where my hand sits on the shield after marking the center. I tend to use a skinnier shield (18"-20") which limits my placement options.

FS: Tanzanite white gold ring SOLD
My wife wants to sell one more ring. Similar to the few that I sold last winter, just before the great AA dump, this is another piece that she just doesn't wear anymore (that and we have bills to pay, mouths to feed etc.). So, her loss is your gain. 3 Tanzanite stones set in white gold, with two sma...

Combat archery is behind this. Multiple arrows penetrate grilles at Pennsic, so they have to make arrow heads fatter. To keep the archers from bitching, they have to do away with low-profile thrusting tips. They can't bitch (IMHO), when is the last time any CA got hit with a stick? Let alone a LPTT?

Aluminum road signs (obtained legally) can make good coat of plates. You can also get the plastic drums from your local car wash. If you have any inkling of spending a little bit of money on these things, look on ebay for metal to cut the aforementioned C.O.P. out of, or look for a local scrap yard....

My most sincere apologies for not being finished with my kit yet. I won't bore you with details of my life and my excuses for not getting it done. The fact of the matter is that I have let you down by not finishing it. But, it is halfway done, and I believe the top half is the harder part of the kit...

Shouldn't this be in Off-Topic or Combat? Not everyone views all forums. Under the circumstances, I personally see no strict area it should be in and am glad it has been cross posted. I used to use a band saw for cutting aluminum as a former machinist, for the thick stuff I've even used a skill saw. I imagine a table saw would work just as well, with the right blade and safety equipment. I was surprised how well it came out the first time I tried it. Looking to drop the steel kit...

Butted is a lot heavier, I have a hauberk that is almost 30lbs that I fought in for a while. As for repairs, yeah, you will spend time repairing it as opposed to some people who have never lost a single link from welded. I do have to add though, in my experience you will do a lot of repairs on a 16g...

WTS Butted Mail Haub.
16g butted, place I got it from said it was zinc coated. Short sleeve, long skirt (goes to about 1" above my knee), split to the crotch riding style. I don't recommend it for heavy SCA combat, unless you don't mind doing repairs now and again. I used it for a while and it developed a hole in ea...

Yard Sale (trim)
Time to clean house. My wife has a bunch of trim that she acquired recently, and it has been sitting around too long. None of it is period materials, its all upholstery and curtain trim. I figured I would offer up the decent looking stuff here before it sell it in a garage sale in a few weeks. Price...

If you want to spear hunt wild pig, you need dogs, and the dogs need to know what they are doing. If you take off in to the wild with nothing but a spear, chances are good that you will go home hungry. If you can't get dogs, I recommend getting a period bow, or crossbow and trying that first (take a...
