I never once hit him in the nuts. I struck him stout blows to honorable targets and did so in such a fashion as to defeat him to the point where he acknowledged he was defeated. Funny the comment comes from maeryk. Someone else who's established they have no testicles to risk. Whatever, Animal. A l...

It's borderline impossible to INJURE someone (on purpose) wearing legal SCA armor hitting them in an SCA legal location - at least with a single handed broadsword. Please define injure. I know several people who have received cracked or broken bones in areas the SCA does not require covered. Their ...

Wow, great work Nissan. Can you check a stick that is soaked in linseed oil, too? And might as well (since, hey, it's your time!) do a full "glue" stiffener soak rather than just the end. What's interesting is that in the West we allow whatever kind of "laminated" rattan you want...

I have to agree with Leo on this one. Just because your opponent refuses to fight within the rules does not give you reason to do so as well. It's not against the rules to hit anyone as hard as they want to be hit. It's borderline impossible to INJURE someone (on purpose) wearing legal SCA armor hi...

Le Crapuad!!!

The Fellowship of the Argent Angel out here has a monthly tournament dedicated to him. This month will be the 165th consecutive Crapaud tournament.

I recognize the arms because there was a big event for the 100th Crapaud and they made t-shirts with De Guesclin's arms on them.

The banner placement doesn't become familiar, but the battle ground is VERY familiar, with three main "avenues" separated by piney areas. People used to use maps and scouts (maybe 10 years ago), now I think we all know them pretty well.

Couple of points.

1) Obviously for 1/2 the people Mid vs. East is where it is at. The other half don't really care so much.

2) Never play risk with Richard Blackmoore.

I like my mail shirt - it is a blacked, riveted haubergeon weighing in at about 16 lbs. The problem is that the rivets catch, and the rings tear. After about 6 months I have a few holes and what not.

So I guess I will have to find a welded one.

Shorter breaks between the fights. Battle field knightings are cool, but do them before the fighting, all at once. You don't need every knight and king there at the same time. Having them between the battles was a terrible idea. The fighters got cold and bored. ZOMG yes. Having started in the SCA i...

I thought it worked very well split between 1/2 E v M, 1/2 E+M v everyone.

More battles are always good. I liked the idea of a day off for singles, but I didn't take advantage of it (I am getting old and have to pace myself for 2-week-long wars) ... so I would like to try it again next year.

First I should say that Logan's shield design and strapping is quite interesting.... I would call it 'chicken wing' arm position - I used to use it occasionally when fighting with a 24x24 square (when fighting a wrong-handed, twosword, or great weapon fighter). But the strapping reminded me of a cen...

Yes, there are a few guys who are not big fans of the low profile thrusting tip. However, they are used by a majority of fighters - knights and unbelted alike - in most tournaments. There are more than a few whom you have to thrust REALLY FREAKING HARD in the body. Now, you have to decide if the guy...
