it just means "light", with a clarification of "I think it was light because you only grazed me with the tip".

People are much more likely to take a tip shot if there's no thrusting tip on the sword.

I have given up arguing the use of wrap shots in the SCA with SCA people. They are so effective within the confines of the rules set they allow people to rack up immense victory tallies with it so it will never be modified to be used as false edge cuts. You are mad. Several years ago, I got a ride ...

the whole point of an Alden war is that there are so many battles you can't count who won how many. So, I guess they all count. Or none. Or something. Balin, if you are compelled, like I think you are, to fight all "point" battles for your King, then the least you can do is go out for an a...

6. It should be equally clear to the archer and the struck fighter why a given shot was not good if it is not. Don't think this one is quite valid. What if it glances? Either party or even a third party might be better suited to judge. Same thing happens in "non missile" combat with flat ...

I start every Tournament cold, no warm up. I have won a lot of them that way. I actually like warm up fights before a tournament, I use them to get all the "losses" out. I came about this method (not saying it's better or worse, it's your own dang head) because I would always fight way wo...

My point was not that it wasn't respected (although it's not, typically) and not that it's ineffective (it is), but that if both sides didn't bring the same number (or close to it) of archers, it would break the battle. Now, you could say the same about spears - but a good portion of folks in this b...

It simulates Medieval Nobles 'playing at war.' Unless you have some documentation of which I am unaware, it's certainly is a terrible simulation of that.... and I am going to grant that such a thing existed. First off- the SCA spans >1000 years of history. That right there torpedoes any simulation....
