Water Hardening

I've heard of a water hardening method for leather where you soak it then bake it and it hardens but stays the same thickness. How long do you soke it for and how warm is the oven? Does one need to have the piece on a form shapped like the final outcome?

Froissart mentions in The Chronicles of a fight between two Frenchmen that fits in this time frame. Cannot remember their names but one was a squire accused of seducing another lord's wife. Think he won so the charges were dropped.

Master Magnus do you have them as a slip on garment or do you tie them up? The ones you posted are exactly what I am aiming to make. I don't see why you couldnt just wear a pair of metal plastic or leather cuisse underneath them, would take away the sting but still look purdy.

From what I know, passed to me buy my Ukrainian friend which he learned through Ukranian Saturday school is pretty basic. They seem to have been very religious and looked to God to protect them. Then again most of what he knows is later, probably 16th century Cossack.

Thank you Magnus I had been drooling at those photos for a while. Looks like one of them has a splinted vambrace with the splints not spread out as much, which would be prefferable to me since I have little natural padding :oops:
