However, what I'd like to see is more battles with larger "limited fronts." This. "stuff 500 bodies into a 18' diameter circle with a 6' haybale hole in it for the last 10 minutes of the battle" is not fun, it's a meatgrinder that gets ankles twisted, people concussed because th...

As long as there are an approximately equal number of people with different color tape on their hats than there is on mine, i'm pretty much OK. More fighting is always better. "OK Everyone let's go shake hands" was a Giant SNAFU and should not be repeated. A noble gesture, but with a horri...

That's the thing about wool - it doesn't tend to collect a stink the way cotton and un-natural fibers do. I'd also suggest that you buy a set of the time-appropriate linen braes (one per day of int...

You got it. For eyelets use an awl to push open a hole without cutting the fabric and stitch open with a buttonhole stitch. For a button hole you cut a slit and stitch open. It is the same stitch but the eyelet is stronger since it does not cut the fabric; less chance of fraying. It can only be don...

flat ring lets you use a thinner wire, so you get more protection/durability at a lower weight.

Round ring is fine, provided it is riveted or welded for durability. I believe round ring to be reasonably period.

SoFC is the man to ask about that though.

Hidden armor is probably your most accurate option.

Many people use shovel greaves. They're wrong, but they're also really effective armor.

not very well. additionally, part of what gives maille its protective ability is its mass. Maille that is too light doesn't protect, maille that is too heavy isn't functional. maille that's "just right" turns out to be roughly 18ga riveted steel, preferably flattened rings. Heavy enough to...

a greenstick fracture is characteristic of the very young. Instead of clean fracture lines, the bone bends substantially before breaking, and then breaks oddly.

It's named that because the x-rays look a bit like what happens when you try to snap a green sapling in half.

Why not use bellows? You can build them yourself.

because a hand-cranked blower is faster, easier, and more portable.

Vassy, Calvados

Hi all, Can anyone point me to primary sources for the history of the commune of Vassy ? It was the site of a massacre of Hugenots in the late 16th c., but i'm more interested in much earlier history - preferably back to the normans - and definitely in primary sources: chronicles, histories, census,...

Sounds like Sean and I play in similar pools.

You can also SLS hydroxyapatite, i believe - which has some advantages over lactides, depending on application.

The trick seems to be controlling pore size. If you don't get it right, vascularization is balls slow.
