If I bought this right now, I'd be paying a lot more in lawyer fees for a divorce.

FS: SS Cervelliere with aventail (SCA) SOLD

This was a helm Master Cet made for me. I've tried minimum padding and a shoehorn and vaseline, but it's just too tight for my melon. The helm and all Cet's labor (installing vervelles, cutting and dying the leather strap and sewing aventail to it, creating a detachable bretache, answering 10,000 em...

Thanks for the replies. If no one sweeps it up, I'll just buy a shoehorn and find a way to squeeze my melon in. Or think small thoughts.

OK, a few bites, but no serious interest. So, I assume this is either just bad timing to sell, what with Christmas and a recession around the corner, or I'm overpricing, or both. Given what I paid, does my asking price seem unreasonable?

Cervelliere with aventail FOR SALE

It practically breaks my heart, but I have to sell this beauty of a helm. I commissioned Master Cet to make me SCA-legal stainless cervelliere and attach a Master Knuut stainless welded aventail. The only catch was, I wanted the maille drap to be detachable so it could be hooked onto the some hardwa...

Period handgonnes/arquibus were very dangerous. They could easily explode, killing its operator and/or anyone around them. I shoot a 16th century, 65 cal matchlock arquibus about 30 times a day every day at work. They are not that dangerous, trust me. I can also hit a six inch target nine out ten t...

In all cases, shipping is additional.

Re: Why invest in the SCA?

You get out of the SCA what you put into it, why should anyone GIVE you anything? Why should those of us on the outskirts of the SCA who are not invested in the SCA system invest in it. Why should we take time away from our personal pursuits to help better the SCA when many in the SCA aren't willin...

Thanks for the replies. I haven't fought in it yet, but the only thing I've noticed walking around with it on is a little "swishy-swooshy" going on. Doesn't seem like it will impair hearing. More like I'm just having a conversation near the ocean. :D

I've always loved the look of mail drapes, but one thing keeps me away: The cost. Okay, two things: The cost and I think that mail would be so damned noisy on the field it'd be hard to hear. I knew a Monol-peer persona that finally got an excellent helmet with mail strung much the same way as with ...

Early- to mid-14th century German heraldry

I'm trying to find good sources of heraldry for early-/mid-14th century Germany/HRE. I've looked over the Manese Codex and Zurich Roll of Arms, and I'm curious if there are other good collections/armorials out there (online or in the stacks somewhere).

I really like your coat of plates. The dags are cool. Steve I'd love to be able to take credit, but Master Geoffrey at GAA Armoury made it before he closed up shop a few years ago. If I had made it you'd be saying, "You're coat of plates is, uh, a coat, with plates. It looks... yeah. Nice lion...
