Well here is a full hilt katz proto type. Not set up really good yet but I thought I would get some feed back on it. It needs to be longer in the handle and the quilions need to be set at a different angle. But I think it is a good start.

Well here is some proto type pommels for the katz hilts I make. I am not yet satisfied with them but thought I would post what I have so far for feedback. No price yet as I am still working them out.

Daithi', Thats sucks about Kingmetals. I have had great service for years here,but I think that has more to do with being in the lower 48. Vermillion, Those look good but i do not use them for weight. What I use is hollow to start with. I have to cut the item to get the size pice I want but it saves on the finished weight. That plays more factor with the full cross hilts but theses are going to add up when I get the pommel done. I will...

Dietrich, As far as I know you can weld mild to stainless. The only thing I would worry about in a basket hilt is the metal at the weld might have funky things going on with it and be brittle due to alloys in the stainless. Leeds...... I have no real details other than handling it and photos. I had only a 6" ruler with me as I was on a 48 day trip.........Also so much to see and no real time there.....only an hour in the weapons vault.

Here is another shot of it. I took this in 2000 at the Royal Army Museum, Brussels. It had a longer blade and it tapered at the point more than your normal katz. I handled one at Leeds once that was very much like it. See photos below.........

A hand above the hilt is a good POB to me. Can you paint the siloflex? It should look good if you can. Post a photo at some point if you get this worked out. Others might like to do this.
